Hey all, it's about time I filled everyone in on where the current build is at.
Right now the build mostly does what I want it to do and I estimate I could theoretically release a bughunt version in about four days or close to it. If I don't run into anything unexpected. But it's... well... really small.
That's partly because I've been splitting my attention which is a silver bullet to my effectiveness at doing anything. I suck at multi whatever. But it's also because the original plan from way back during the development of book 1 was still at the scope of book 1... limited.
In essence I don't dislike that and wanna keep it that way, but I'm also incredibly undecided on whether I shouldn't give it more time and attention. I'm at that perfectly balanced moment where my mind is of two opinions. The worst place ever!
So the release date of the bughunt is still a question mark, but early access is definitely something which won't happen this month.
One of the other things I've been doing this month is putting together a credits list. Yes, it's that higher tier perk which I've been waiting on to include once the the game was finished.
Problem is, Patreon's csv-files for the earlier years of MITY won't download properly. I'm just getting empty csv files. With the same filters and whatnot I can download the latest years without a sweat, but older ones... empty.
So I wrote the patreon people and asked whether I'm messing up somehow(which is perfectly possible) or whether it's a problem on their end. Still waiting on their answer or that moment when I realize it's somehow something I did after all.
If you don't want to be put in the credits for whatever reason, just send me a dm and I'll take you out of them. Even if you asked me before, please send it in once more to make extra certain I got it.
Oh and I just want to say I'm still annoyingly happy with myself for the next build being the 1.0.0 version. It's the build which will have "The end"- message for the very first time so for it to coincide with it being one, zero, zero just scratches an itch in my mind which you'd have to have ocd for to understand.
Anyway, once I do release the early access version sometime in April (and nothing breaks down/blows up too badly) I think I'll take a break and ponder about what the future of MITY will look like during that time. Whatever I decide (and I really have zero plans/expectations) I think the first thing I'll do afterwards is start working on a new build for 18Titans. It feels like an eternity since I last touched that and I think there might a few people around who'd like to see that progress some more.
Oh, I almost forgot! Let's talk a bit about what I decided on for how the last chapter of FET deals with your earlier choices. I didn't want to be too much of a dick about things, so I'm keeping book 4 as the linchpin of what happens in the end.
Basically, I'm looking at whether you're coming into the last chapter from book 4's slave or love route. The end will for a large part depend on that choice. I thought that was a nice halfway solution. You don't have to replay all books just to see a different ending and it's still not making it as simple as a menu option in the last chapter which feels a bit too easy to me.
Some choices made in earlier books will also have an impact, but smaller and most options will just be a matter of your choices during the last chapter. I'm trying to keep it all centered around one definitive moment.
I think that's all... Normally two days ago would be about the time my inbox starts to fill up with questions about release dates, but you guys have been so quiet it's almost scary! I got a couple but that's it.
Okay, I'm gonna return to working on FET again.

I answered this in a more recent update because I wanted the answer to be seen by as many people as possible. You most likely have already read that, but I'll repeat it in short here. Sometime in April after the early access has been released.

You're right, but at the same time... the end is the end, by which I mean blowing too much air into a balloon will start to distort the print on it into something grotesque. The conclusion was devised a long time ago and adding too much to that will not make it better. ps.. some of the ends will go out with a bang(ing) :D

It's a katara (and higher tier) perk. As SoW already said it's about honouring/thanking patrons and such. ps. I haven't forgotten about that scene I talked about with you batman... but it's just one of those things I wanna tackle when all else is done.

I honestly couldn't do this if money was my main motivation so you don't have to be afraid of that happening. I have to like it (a lot) or it's a definite nogo. I'll go and take a look at the crab minigame soon and see if that can be fixed without opening a can of bugs ---- okay, I added it for in the next version, I've put the button for left and down on the right side of the screen and the button for up and right on the right side. If that's a bad idea send me a dm to propose an alternative idea.

Thanks Valkiyen. If you haven't played it already, I've done a short test of sorts in the past called omnitrixxx. It's... very limited... but has some ben 10 stuff in there. No aliens though.

I get that man😄. And sorry I should know saying ko pressure usually leads to people feeling pressure lol. But just remember the fun aspect to focus on and enjoy finishing it up. After that whatever happens happens. Can’t please everyone so just make sure you please yourself and enjoy creating the product you want. Looking forward to it.

Hahaha, yeah I think a lot of people don't realize how much players helped shape the routes. There always was a big red line but feedback has always been very important. When it comes to 18Titans I think I had most fun with Jinx and making her do unspeakable things : )

Thanks BB, putting together the final chapter is kinda... well fun but also scary. A lot of people wanting a good end(including me of course!) to a game which they have followed for a long time makes you feel the pressure.

I didn’t expect the ending finale of the game being only a single chapter! I expected at least a few builds to wrap up all the loose ends. I would say don’t feel like you need to do everything quickly. I would personally like the best conclusion possible rather than one that was rushed. Quite a few years have gone into this game, you want it to end in a bang! Quite literally.

Been following this project for years now and its absolutely amazing to see how far its come, the difference between book 1 and book 4 is astonishing and its been great to see you and your team hit their stride and improve in quality with every release. No matter what you people do in the future I look forward to seeing it and I hope that you pick something that you'll enjoy working on, not just something that will sell well. Side note, will it ever be possible to get a fix for the pocket crabs minigame in book 3 seeing as the crabble arena is bugged on mobile so you cant move around or do anything in there.

I, for one, like things that end and am glad to hear you're on your way to the finish line. 🙂 To have been around long enough to support (and influence) the project has been a real treat. I hadn't known previously a patreon create that engaged and included the patrons in the project as much as you guys have in the past. I'm sure there are great & interesting things on the horizon. Personally, I have been looking forward to getting back to Black/Starfire, Raven, and Beast girl. Turn Titan Tower into a true den of debauchery 🤪

I'm pretty sure you misunderstand that. It's not as big as book 1 but way smaller. Because when they worked out the story/ending, they still were working on book 1.

Take all the time you need guys. Want to take another month to flesh it out great. Want to stick with releasing a smaller chapter to just bring it all together for the end you envisioned fantastic! Want to release this and someday add more content for shits and giggles or just whenever you feel like expanding on it then that’s just as fine. We can wait. It’s just cool we’re finally reaching the end. As long as it’s good content like always and puts a nice little bow on the end the length is just secondary. Congrats on making it to the finish line guys. Take a much needed breather once you’re done. We’re glad to have gone on the journey.

hey dude, first off i want to say that you have made it all from scrath all by yourself (and a little by marty ;D) so you listen to your gut feelings and stick to what you think is best. but on the same note, i wanted to tell you that as far as i'm (and i think everybody here are) concerned, we can wait for another month, two, a year, a decade, as much time as needed until you are contempt with your creation. if you want to keep it this way, go ahead, if you want to recode the entirety of book 1,2,3 and 4, we'll wait. and i cant stress this enough: DON'T RUSH YOURSELF
