Discovering the side effects of cough syrup(again)?
🕑 Added 2026-01-27 22:25:27 +0000 UTCGood day all! Where the hell have I been for most of the month!? Oh first things first, I'm expecting to have the new FET bughunt version ready tomorrow and the early access on the 31st.
So where have I been this month? Usually I would've written some sort of update weeks ago, but there was nothing, right? Well, I was just here sitting where I always sit. In front of the pc screen, but this time with some major brain fog going on and not being able to get anything done. As you know I took a break during Xmas but after finishing the FET upkeep version(which had a dumb mistake in the Linux version) I kinda got in a rut.
NOT being able to get myself into gear felt inexcusable and the prospect of possibly not being able to deliver for January made me spend the little energy I did have on less than positive inner self talk.
The good news is I got most of that out of my system now and with a little extra elbow grease I think I can just finish and release everything as I originally intended for this month.
So what happened? I'm still not entirely certain, but the fact it has been such a long time since a real FET release (there was a titans build, a spooky build and xmas in between) I had trouble starting up the engine so to speak. My creative mojo felt depleted and my ability to make choices was gone, leaving me like a deer in headlights. Or a Toph playing Tetris. I'm not entirely certain, but I also suspect I might have been doing a little too much cough syrup in addition.
After getting sick(and better) during the Xmas break I still had this cough which just would not stop or lessen and kept me up at night. So I bought some cough syrup. And waddayaknow... it didn't taste bad... not bad at all really... and then I bought another bottle because I emptied the first one.... I might have overdone that a little. Who knows how that affected things.
Anyway once I got a bit of my old self back I've been doing my best to catch up again and I think I've been able to (which certainly made me feel better) and finally write this update! Better late than never hopefully.
So there you have it. If you're in my inbox waiting for a reply, once I got the Bughunt uploaded tomorrow I'll go and try and punch a dent into that mountain. Till then!

What cough syrup "tastes good"? I'd like to know for future reference XD I had a really bad flu starting Dec 28th, and going well through the week after New Years. Immediately following that, I got stuck with a wracking cough and an on-again-off-again fever that climbed to 104, for 7 days straight. Went to the ER on day 4-5 and they said it was bronchitis. Finally was over it and able to go back to work on the 14th, but man did that suck. Tried 2 different syrups (off-brand dayquil, and mucinex) and the smell and taste of both started making me nauseous after the first dose.

If you have a cough for 3 days, please get checked by a doctor in case it is something serious. I ignored my cough and it turned out to be pneumonia. You don't wan that, trust me. I was coughing for a month. Then I went to the doc. He x-rayed me, then gave me some meds, and in 12 hours I was much much better.

Gonna have to copy/paste/print that somewhere so I can easily find it again. I did try a lot of stuff, mostly honey and tea, but nothing really worked... maybe I got that fake sugar honey now that I think of it.... Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. Covid did a number on me as well back in the day. I just hoped it would be a one and done deal but effects of it do linger.

Well, that's interesting. Whenever I go meddling in older books it gets dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised if I introduced this in a more recent build. I'll check it out and see what can be done about it if it's a bug. Thanks for letting me know.

Honestly I still have that cough, but it's very minimal and it doesn't hamper/drain me anymore. This IS the first month of a new year and I AM slightly superstitious so I want something done no matter what.

First month of the new year sets the mood so this isn't the time to be easy on myself. I'm certain I'll regret it otherwise!

I have had that exact cough you are talking about, multiple times in the last 2 years. after trial and error, here are some things to help mitigate the symptoms. 1: drink lots of smooth, soft teas, with delicate flavors, and put lots of honey with it. Lavender, chamomile, rosehip and hibisucs are all great flavors for the throat and lungs, and have actual medicinal properties. the honey will help greatly with your throat. 2: get small throat lozenges. Ricola is the best, as Ludens doesn't last long, and in my experience, doesn't work well either. be careful with any Ginger lozenges, as they can irritate the throat. 3: make a garlic honey. you take honey, ad some minced garlic and some chili flakes, and you keep the mix in the fridge. every morning, have 1 teaspoon. it helps a ton with congestion, which also helps the throat. 4: be wary of cough suppressants. some are good, but all have side effects, and help minimally with this specific lingering cough. 5: take hot showers once a day, and a hot bath once or twice a week. sitting in the hot water helps the lungs, and the moisture lubricates your throat. breath in the steam and you'll notice the cough becoming weaker each time you do. I hope this helps. My lungs have literally never been the same since COVID, and it is blatantly noticeable, cuz I went from being perfectly healthy in my early 20's to noticeably struggling in my late 20's.

Question, I am somehow getting a bug that based on everywhere I ask shouldn't be there. In Book 1 Slave Route, I can't get the last scenes of Bend and BJ to trigger no matter my points or actions. I literally used the tab/skip button and have ran through at least 98-100% of ever possible action and combination of actions and they just won't trigger

I am pretty sure most if not all people here would rather have you prioritize your physical and mental health over a consistent update schedule. Especially as even the few less empathetic should know that a healthy Marty is somewhat key to the high quality FET we are used to 😅 Anyways: Thanks for your hard work and don't overdo it!
