🕑 Added 2025-01-20 21:50:34 +0000 UTCHey all. I'm finally back with an update. You'll remember me telling you I wanted to try and change my workflow. I wanted to do much more multi-tasking instead of my usual way of one-tracking things. I figured doing more and different stuff throughout a day could help me speed things up. And what could be a better start to 2025 than a better way of doing things!
Long story short, it sucked hard and managed to do the exact opposite. It scattered my focus all over the place and turned something I like doing into the opposite. Sometimes you just need to give something an honest chance, so I tried it for a bit longer than a week and am now convinced I should never try it again. Lesson learned!
But yeah, I think doing it the way I've always done it, one thing at a time and moving on to the next thing once it's done(or at least mostly done), works best for me. If that means I'm going to hit my head on a roadblock every now and then, so be it. After all, if things stop being fun for me, no doubt you'll start feeling it in the end result.
It's why this update is plenty late. I wanted to first get back on track and make certain the Titans build was going well again before writing any sort of update. By the way, all of the above doesn't change anything for the Titans build. that's still scheduled for this month.
That's not the only discovery I made about myself. I think I've mentioned I was looking at getting a knock-off Transformer figure before. Basically a sexy Arcee. A robot with an ass! it's one of those build-it-yourself sets, like a Gundam I guess? No glue though. I never had one of those so this was a first for me. I bought one and the process of clicking those parts together was surprisingly nice and calming! (Also more difficult than I first expected, but still oddly relaxing)
She turned out to be pretty small (I didn't properly read the description before getting it because I just assumed it was going to be of a certain size). It's close to 7 inches and way smaller than my fake Joo Dee figure. And damn... did building it leave me with a lot of... sprue! Plastic leftovers. Volume-wise you could probably build at least two others with the leftover material.
Putting her together left me more satisfied than working on the Titans build for a while and that was my final hint I really had to return to my old (perverted) ways.
So, that's what I did and have been doing, with a bit more knowledgeable about what makes me tick than before!
Completely off-topic. A few years ago I was playing this super old adventure game(companions of xanth) using an emulator. I read some of the xanth series a long time ago and when I discovered there was pc game made of it I wanted to try it. Just like with the "Betrayal at Krondor" game which I mentioned before. Very nice audio tracks by the way! It's weird how those sounds always give me these nostalgic feelings. These old games can be incredibly atmospheric.
Anyway, I was having a walk-through playing in the background today while working on the Titans build (mostly for the audio) and discovered I completely missed an option in the game when I played it myself. It was just really fun to see something like that was in there and completely missed by me.
That's about it for this update. I still have loads to do for the new Titans build and I really don't want to start this year being late with a new build, so back to the perverted grinding stone! Talk to you later!

Absolutely the right choice no sacrificing the fun and drive of it in a pursuit of more efficiency (that didn't even pan out because the multitask approach doesn't suit you in that case).

It kinda does take quite a bit of time. Though not as long as you might fear. Still, I enjoyed the process once I realized and adapted to the fact it wasn't going to be done in ten minutes. You might too.

Ah, you're a coinnoisseur! Or however you spell that. I don't think I would like the painting part either. Hell, I haven't even put on the stickers! Nor am I planning to. Once done with putting it together I was almost disappointed. And let me tell you that was NOT what I thought at first. At first I was like "Awh shit, that's a lot of parts, this is going to take forever". But yeah, I found the process to be very nice and relaxing. Maybe even... soothing? Not certain that's the right word for it, but I'm now convinced the joy is to be found in putting these together, instead of just having the end result.

Sometimes you need to push through before things click. I've had that with games before like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. I bought it, hated it, didn't play it for a year but because I had already spent the money I went back to it, pushed through and now it's one of my favorite game series! Too bad that didn't work out for this either.

>one of those build-it-yourself sets A model kit? 😅 It's a fun hobby. I used to also find it very calming, particularly the snipping and cleaning of parts. Painting I liked less, but the satisfaction when it all comes together is orgasmic in its own right. I used to build lots of Mecha plamo (plastic models). I still have a bunch in my closet for a rainy day, but I've mostly been out of the hobby the last decade or so.

Kudos to you for trying something new! I find myself in the same boat - all these fancy new tricks and productivity strategies crop up, but trying them just doesn’t work with my brain lol. Always end up restoring to factory settings 😛
