Time for a new (and slightly late) dev log! I got so caught up working on the update yesterday that I completely lost track of time - suddenly, it was 1 AM. :D
Over the past two weeks, I’ve finished the last scene, implemented all animations into the final game, fixed a couple of issues, and added a bunch of small new features that I hope you’ll enjoy! The main things still missing are the audio (which will be the biggest workload), clickables, updates to character details, phone background images for the new content, and a few other minor things I’ll be tackling over the next few days.
I’ve also decided not to include a recap or outro for Chapter 3 (version 0.3) and future releases. While I liked them, in the long run, most players probably won’t see them anyway, since I automatically hide older version outros. Seeing a 0.2 outro when you're playing version 0.4 would just pull you out of the game - same goes for the recaps. Hope that works for you as well!
The game is currently undergoing thorough testing to make sure that the only things that can get screwed up are the ones I’ll inevitably mess up after testing is finished - as always :D!
Here are the current stats for this release:
~1330 new renders
~20k new words
32 new animations
Bugfixes, new ui features, small mini-game, and a lot more!

Haha, yes, first time working with renpy might be a bit tough. Somehow we get used to it, though :D

I now understand what you devs go through writing the story in renpy. I bought a game on steam but the English was soooo bad I decided to edit the files myself for my own copy. i had so many head shakes lol

Fully understandable, and I don't doubt you don't want to PUBLICLY SPOIL 😅 BaDIK holds a special place in my heart, but only because it was the FIRST AVN that got me into this space. Still, I already have too many demands on my time as it is, so I only play my favorite "Others" path for BaDIK every release these days. I'd much rather pour my time into a harem AVN 😉 But you do you for your vision. I'm here for the ride!

I feel you, I played it but not that long. So I'm not really aware on how deep the branches will go. It's definitely a task to keep track with the branches, let me tell you that (and I don't have that many branches at all!). I like to chance some things, but I'll also try to make a main branch which has most of the key elements despite some bigger story developments, sorry for being a bit cryptic but I don't want to spoil the fun I've planned! :D

The only game I know it works well for is Being a DIK, and that's mainly because he's got SO MANY damn branches now, I don't even know how Dr PinkCake even keeps track anymore 🤣 Kinda why I've veered towards harem and more kinetic or less "choices matter" AVNs. I'm pretty burnt out on those because every game requires a time investment and I'd rather it be a single cohesive experience versus replaying the same content with different outcomes. But that's just my current personal preference. And a bit of ranting 😂

Yeah, I agree! Maybe I'll get back to it when my dev cycles will be longer at some point again, who knows. But for now, I'll try to make shorter episodes so not everything has been forgotten since the last release! :D

As far as EP/ch recaps, perhaps it's helpful when there's long Dev cycles, but imo I just take it as an excuse of "I don't remember, time to replay from scratch!" But that's my perspective and I'm sure there's people that won't agree. Excited to see what you've been cooking!
