Baldur's Gate 3: Tabaxi Mod - WIP 1
🕑 Added 2024-02-07 15:29:43 +0000 UTCHey, sorry for the long wait between updates- I had some unexpected family obligations over the holidays that took me away from modding for a while. However, I'm very much back into the swing of it now- I've learned BG3 modding, and have nearly finished the male Tabaxi head model. I'll definitely still be making improvements to this as I fill out the rest of the mod, though I think it's off to a pretty good start. Creating the same sort of 3D fur effect as the other cat models in the game was certainly an interesting challenge, and something I really want to get better at.
Next up will be the torso, hand and tail models, as well as getting the race settings into a playable state. Once that's ready, I'll post a 0.1 alpha version that Patrons can download and try out. After that, the plan is to add some alternate fur patterns inspired by ocelots and housecats, then probably create digitigrade paws with a bunch of modified clothing models, and finally to add some Tabaxi npcs and environmental assets, including possibly a Tabaxi-fied companion.

(spoilers warning) How about Wyll, this sort of counts double the work but having him turning into a hellcat would be cool AF. Doing additional companion would be cool too. but I understand if you would not be up for that.

Hi! I just joined your patreon since you're the only person who I have seen talk about making a tabaxi mod and I love kitties! : ) Will having a tabaxi companion be optional?

Absolutly outstanding. I was waiting for this fo so long after the previous mods. Sad digipaws wasn't an option in the CP mod but these mode made me play CP and xcom again. hehe. Hope we can get some leopard spots and super thick tail/super fluff option eventually and little saberfangs. For companions, Honestly, I'd say Asterion as weird as that is because he could sell be a tabaxi personality wise and his story doesn't really have any major issues with him being a different race persay (Mind I'm not framilar with vampyre lore in D&D). Gale is nice but it would make some interactions with a certian old lady in act 3 a entirely new level of great but awkward. I never had SH in my party so can't say much about her story. She seriously rubbed me the wrong way. All that said I'm super excited and have been waiting for this.

This looks amazing, thanks so much for making mods like this. I'll also second making Shadowheart a Tabaxi, her "prickly at first but softens when you really get to know her" story seems very fitting lol

I was hoping and thinking that possibly Shadowheart would be the most lore friendly and logical option. Her story doesn't rely too much on her race and she's also the most often romanced character in the game meaning that it'd have a higher likelihood of her being the most wanted one by other patrons as well. Although this might be a bit nit-picky I do think it'd be odd for Gale to be a Tabaxi since he has a pet that looks like a cat (I forget the exact name of the creature). Nonetheless, any sort of companion being a tabaxi would be amazing and I'd love to see it happen!

Haven't quite decided on that yet- I'm still just leaning toward either Gail or Shadowheart. I am definitely open to suggestions, however. Ideally, whichever companion I change should have a backstory that meshes well with being a Tabaxi- I might be able to make small changes to dialog with AI-generated vocals (assuming I can also figure out the lipsync animations), but I don't want to rely on that to avoid immersion-breaking moments if I can help it.

Looks amazing! Can't wait to see test it once the alpha is out! I am curious as to whether or not you've nailed down a companion that you're going to tabaxify if you choose to do so and as to which one it is if that is the case, would you might enlightening us?
