Sennheiser HD600 - Oluv's “natural” target EQ V0
🕑 Added 2023-03-31 21:45:14 +0000 UTCHere you can find my "final" flat EQ for the HD600 as EqualizerAPO file and with adjusted settings for the Qudelix 5K to get more or less the same result from both.
The EqualizerAPO file has 2 optional filters at the very end which you may want to activate if you still hear well past 18khz, as they reduce the 19khz peak of the HD600 and should make the overall treble sound smoother.
Keep in mind that I tried to stay as faithful to "neutral" as possible throughout the entire frequency response not trying to enhance any range, but your result may vary depending on your ear, unit etc. It may take a while to get used to a rather flat response if you were used to headphones with boosted treble full of peaks.
Please let me know how this works for you and which adjustments you personally need to apply for a better result. I may fine tune it for myself a little bit more. The smallest adjustments can have a big impact on how smooth treble will be rendered in the end. I cannot guarantee the same effect will be also hearable to others, but so far I am quite satisfied with the result, it sounds way closer to a speaker spectrum than all my previous attempts. I wonder how you perceive it.
In future I may readjust my target even more once I get a better neutral reference. It would appear to me that the 3khz region may need some slight boost, as the Nubert X3000 seem to have some slight dip in that area.

I will post an update later. I readjusted my setting which is much closer to my “universal” setting.

I think I need to listen to more song to find out where is the differences between flat and stock, I am quite a low volume listener but I think I can go louder for testing, what kind of song you would recommend for the comparing?

I try the EQ, I am 22 so I can still hear 18000hz, I gotta be honest with you I don't hear a big difference between stock and the flat-EQ, I think The flat EQ giving me a feeling of "fuller" sound, I think is due to the more bass you given to it; But when I use your universal eq on your binural recording video is so damn fucking real comparing it with the stock,
This EQ is great, sounds very natural. It's the closest I've heard a headphone sound to how I hear my speakers. I play around with EQ a lot and if I EQ it to have consistent volume in a sine sweep it becomes overly smooth and not how a speaker would sound, it lacks some harshness that is necessary for a natural sound. That being said I still think it misses out on the "tecnicalities" I get with an hd800 or Hifiman XS. The physical driver size seems to impact the perceived imaging and bass slam.
