For an apprentice witch leaving home for the first time, an old family quilt would be more resilient than any armor (and cozier, too).

Better ensorcell it to be waterproof or she'll drown in it if she gets caught out in the rain, haha! Now I'm wondering what it's stuffed with ... feathers, I bet. Anybody but me here who's slept in a feather-bed? It's like floating in a warm cloud.
