Updated - The most difficult day of my life.

Husband is home as of last night and is doing well! He seems to be have been more himself today and is doing much better than he was. He's still pretty tired, but overall, it's such an improvement.
Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for the all of the support and kind words and donations. Really, it means so much to us, and it make him so happy to see. Thank you all.
I'll be sure to keep an eye on him, and we'll both be sure to get plenty of extra rest.

Yesterday was the most difficult day of my life. Nothing quite hits you so hard as multiple doctors telling you "He could have died," or "He could die."

The day I posted my last update, I was starting to feel sick. The following day, I was down. Covid. First time I've had it, and it sucked (Still have it, just isn't too intense). Husband took care of me as best as he could, but he's been a bit sick lately too. A day later, he was down pretty bad too. Covid.
As some of you might be aware from past posts, he has autoimmune issues thanks to vasculitis and kidney issues with glomerulonephritis. Covid was gonna be rough for him. I was feeling a lot better myself. Minor congestion, some headaches from sneezing. Nothing some ibuprofen couldn't help. Him, however... He wasn't sleeping, couldn't eat and was breathing really weirdly.
Yesterday was his birthday, and despite all the plans we had made, well, we couldn't do anything. It was just meant to be a day of him trying to rest, but something wasn't right.
I couldn't get in touch with our family doctor and decided to take him to urgent care to see if they could prescribe anything for him. He said congestion was the only issue, so I figured some strong medication for that would help.
He barely made it to the car, and he barely made it inside the clinic. They started doing the normal checks, and the nurse was concerned because his oxygen level was only at 73% (97% is normal). Another doctor came in and told me they were calling an ambulance right away, and they hooked him up to oxygen. I commented about how stupid expensive ambulances were and that I'd just drive him, and the doctor straight up said "He could die if he's not on oxygen."
I never felt so choked up and unable to talk in all my life. I just sat there while she explained it to me. EMS arrives, loads him up and takes him away. I lost it in the car for a moment and headed home. Since it was covid related, we agreed to see what the protocol for visitors was before I went up there.
I fell asleep on the couch, then he called me. Some scans showed he had a blood clot in his lungs. He said he'd call back in a moment, cause someone else came in to talk to him. When he called back, it turns out it was multiple blood clots, and they were going to perform surgery.
I gathered my stuff and left. I got to his room as they were prepping him to take him back. The doctor doing the procedure was explaining how things works. They'd make an incision around his groin and run the tool up towards his lungs and heart to suck out the clots.
He went on to tell me... He could die from this procedure, as it could stop his heart (his heart was already under a ton of strain). I could hardly choke out answers after that. He told me Paul was lucky to have even gotten to the hospital, that people with clots like this die at home or die on the way without knowing what happened. I was mortified. Took everything I had to not start bawling right there. I gave Paul kiss, told him I loved him and went to wait in the car (he was to be put in an ICU room after, so I would be waiting for that call).
I don't think my mom has ever heard me cry like I did when I called her. I barely made it to the car before the waterworks started. Me being sick too, crying just sounded stupid, haha. I calmed down though, got me a drink and a snack, called a friend and waited.
About an hour passed, and I got a call saying the ICU room was ready and that the procedure was half over and going well, so I went up to the room, and about 30 minutes later, I got another call saying the procedure was done. They removed the major clotting (which I was shown pictures of later, and it was so grody...), and the smaller clots, they are gonna let dissolve while he's in the ICU while monitoring him.
As it stands, he'll be in the ICU for a few days for monitoring, but things are better now it seems. Just wish he could get some sleep. After I got home, I crashed for a good 11 hours. I'm not feeling too hot myself atm, but I figure it's cause of all of the stress from yesterday. I'm just beat.
With all of this going on, I don't think I'm going to be able to start working on a new update till the middle of next month, at least, so the next update would be on Feb. 1st instead of January 16th. I don't know what all to expect right now, so I figured I'd give you all the heads up for that.
What makes this even worse is that his Insurance doesn't go into effect until the 1st of January (American Healthcare!), meaning it'll still all e out of pocket.

TLDR VERSION
Husband could have died because of covid and ended up in the ER on his birthday yesterday so they could remove blood clots in his lungs. Delaying next update too, cause I'm a bit of a mess.

Thanks to everyone that's already sent us well wishes and what not. I appreciate it. Sorry if I don't reply to everyone also. I'm just drained. It's been a trying 24 hours.
I'll be sure to do what I can to take care of him, and I'll be sure to take care of myself as best as I can <3

OMG I am wishing you and your husband well. The clot situation is very scary. Do take all the time to rest and recenter before moving forward with the project. Self-care and self-health is very important. Much love and prayers!
