But what about this water? Why is there water on the floor?
"Break in the water main downstairs near the safe deposit boxes. It's a real mess," answers the old bedraggled janitor to Hannah's thoughts aloud.
"A water leak down in the vault?" Hannah's conspiratorial curiosity kicked into alert mode. She quickly scrabbled to her feet, which was no small feat on wet marble floors in flats! She was off to the stairs.
"Wait! Miss Hoxley! Those shoes of yours aren't much for water!" The janitor called uselessly after the headstrong girl. "They ain't much use for anything," he muttered under his breath while shaking his head. Gotta get this water mopped up, he thought.
