Derren Brown? Really?! He was really big in the UK about 20 years ago, a hypnotist/magician guy whose whole schtick was "this is science, not supernatural". But he's not had a TV show here since c.2010, so it's kinda baffling why he'd be guesting now.

thanks for reading my comment! i also did the fushimi inari hike when i was in kyoto in october. i took the secondary route through the bamboo forest (at night!) and it was otherworldly. the final stretch to the top was quite extreme but worth it. ‘the hudsucker proxy’ is right up there with ‘a serious man’ for me, and it’s the coen brothers movie i quote the most (my social media bio has been “extruded plastic dingus” for ages). happy new year!

Since Bob brought up the Coen Brothers and their style/craft, I'm going to recommend that everybody check out the Criterion commentary for Blood Simple where they, along with cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld, do a breakdown of the process behind lighting and shooting select scenes from the film. The only episode of that RoboCop show I've watched is the Christmas one. If you google it you may even find my Christmas blog where I did a write-up last year. It was surprisingly not terrible, and I didn't want to make my comment even longer, but it's amusing to me that the original RoboCop lost an episode to X-Men and the showrunner of the late 90s RoboCop is Eric Lewald. As in, the showrunner for the Fox X-Men cartoon. It seemed to try to be a little subversive, but it's a Y-7 show so it can only go so far. RoboCop is like Inspector Gadget though, well a competent one, so it's silly in that way. I bet they were hoping someone would want to make some toys that never came. And Henry, you go to as many Disney Parks as you like in 2025. I will support your indulgence. Happy Holidays, fellas, enjoy the time off.

although I didn't like the NFL/simpsons crossover as a whole (mostly on the animation side) I respect what they did and more importantly Mina Kimes is 100% awesome. I used to listen to her + Clinton Yates + Domonique Foxworth on a morning show when I was driving into work on Sunday mornings and the leftist nature of the show meant it was the only palatable sports talk radio to be had in B'ham

Slight correction about what Henry said about the latest episode. That was actually the third appearance of Portuguese Fausto. He was introduced in an episode from one of the mid to late 20 seasons and had a minor role in that one. He then reappeared last season, I think, randomly in the third act of an episode. No idea why he was in the latest episode since his previous appearances have all been as a sailor.
