It’s funny because I’ve also heard “Baba” being used, kinda like Jiisan and “Jiji” And even though the languages are totally different, in many Slavic languages like Polish, Baba is also a colloquial for old lady.

"Grandma" is absolutely being used as a general term for an old lady, not with any actual blood relation Also, hips = butt in Japanese, so the "butt looks big" line is an accurate translation
