In our sixth podcast about a live-action show that has very cartoony qualities, we're digging into the classic Canadian sketch comedy program, Kids in the Hall. This collection of maple-leaf misfits helped define alternative comedy in just five short years and a surprising amount of episodes. And, thanks to frequent Comedy Central reruns, their cult show gradually built up enough of a fanbase to go on regular tours, produce new shows, and even reboot their old series 25 years after the original run reached its natural conclusion. So sit back and recall your last average weekend as we explore this highly influential comedy series that both delighted and warped us throughout the '90s.

I enjoyed this installment of What A Cartoon: Hyper-Fixation Edition Aside from some rare contemporary projects like I Think You Should Leave and Key & Peele, sketch comedy is a huge blind spot for me. I was much more of a comedy music guy in my teens (Shoutout to The Lonely Island for single-handedly ruining my music streaming algorithms) I don’t know if I’ve seen a single Kids in the Hall sketch before listening to this ep, but y’all have for sure convinced me! I appreciate artists who transform their pain into pleasure for the audience. I’ll be sure to give more episodes a watch. Thanks as always for the podcast, guys!
