As a Filipina who has been trying to learn more about indigenous Philippine beliefs before colonization, I HIGHLY appreciate this!! Mayari has been a favorite of mine since I learned about her!!! The only critique I have of this artwork is that Mayari is known for having only one eye. The mythology is that in the beginning, she went to war against her brother, the Sun God, when he tried to overtake the earth and she ended up losing one eye. They then agreed to rule equally with him reigning during the day and her at night and thatβs why there is day and night. And the light at night is dimmer because she only has one eye.
