The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update+ 19/June/2020
🕑 Added 2020-06-19 12:00:00 +0000 UTCOdd week this week. I don't tend to get many of those, so it was kinda weird :D
Things were...a lot this week. I got very frustrated, overwhelmed, and burnt out. I think I have been so keen to push for Book Three I forget to actually stop working on it at points sometimes, lol!
I also managed to ruin a whole bunch of reference material that I had been making over years. It was seriously upsetting. I am redoing it, but it was all handwritten and handdrawn things, so to damage it was a bit heart breaking.
So yeah, I certainly didn't manage to get Chapter One finished like I hoped, which also was upsetting. I really, really don't like hitting goals, lol!
But I did manage to get Rebecca's bit finished, as well as A's scene done, and start N's.
A's scene was actually a nice surprise. I had planned it completely differently than it turned out :D But I LOVE it so much more. If the characters lead a different way, I always think it's best to follow and it was so worth it!
N's scene is coming along but there's a lot more variation to it. I need to account for if you're in relationship or not, if you're in a relationship and kissed already, not kissed yet, etc. So it's taking a bit more work to fit all of those in. But I always enjoy writing N's scenes, so it's been nice to dive into those.
For Creek Edge, it was all about the noses this week, hehe! It's going to be too much to change facial features for customisation (I need to remember I'm only one person sometimes!), but I found changing the nose helped add a really different feel to the face (especially by the time you change hair, hair colour, skin colour, etc) so I still really want to offer that. I'm just working out how to do it exactly. I think I can add it as a seperate layer but I would need to get the layer very precisely coded in.
Due to the intensity of this week though, I am going to be taking a week break away from internet and tech. I think I need a brain detox and come back totally fresh again! To be honest, I'll probably still end up writing at some point, just old fashioned pen and paper (don't think I can go a week without Wayhaven in some way!) :D
I still have a few asks on Tumblr set for next week, as well as the Monthly Bonus Content #2 set for Thursday on Patreon obviously (hope you guys enjoy that one!).

For Update+ this week, I thought I'd share a bit of Rebecca content.
'A few more wrinkles have developed around her eyes than a few months ago, a few streaks of grey hair shading the usual ${mc_hair} glossy locks, and her skin has greyed.
It's not the way I have pictured her for all these years.'

Bad weeks (days, months, years) happen - it's not odd given how much bad is happening in the world right now - not to mention personal stress you may be enduring. It has to come out eventually. I'm truly sorry to see you lost years of reference; I've lost old works from viruses/hard drive failure and physical damage and it Sucks. But here's the thing: Those are symptoms of Brilliance - not the source. You still have it inside you; you still have your mind. And to keep it, continue to rest and take as many breaks as needed. Then you'll find you came up with even better ideas than you had before. Hope to see you Refreshed on the 29th. <3
