The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update+ 09/July/2021

Though it did inspire a fun scene for Patreon, that I hope you guys really enjoyed! :D
My head really wasn't up for anything intense, so once again editing was pushed back. Monday and Tuesday were a bust, even though I tried to push myself on Tuesday and it all went horribly wrong, lol. I read one of the sentences I wrote about 7 times before figuring out the words were all the wrong way round!
So I've been trying my hardest to fit a week's worth of writing into yesterday and today, which is almost impossible, but I'm glad I can just get back to it again! I missed UB so bad!
Though taking some time away, it did force me to think of how it's going. I love how much I'm getting to add in—I'm seriously just going for it—but that also means it takes so much longer.
I have specific goals in mind, and I'm really good at meeting them, but sometimes when I get carried away or change up scenes, it can start adding up in pushing my schedule back.
And obviously I want to get the game out as soon as I can so I can finally talk to you guys about what's coming! :D
But on the other hand, how I'm writing Book Three is how I want Wayhaven to go. Lots of variety, lots of nuances, completely different versions of chapters, separate side stories, adding those extra moments or details in that really make it personal or draw you in so much you completely forget about the outside world for a while.
Like Chapter 8 research scenes, have places and moments where you might see get a completely different feel to the romance, just because of how you want to play the game.
I don't want it to be just that you're getting a romance storyline, or a friendship storyline, I want that storyline to actually be affected by what your MC is doing, or what you've done together in previous books/scenes, or how characters are reacting to you based on what you're doing.
If all of that makes sense! :D
But that all takes time. So much time. Wayhaven is already 100,000s of words long but it seems like it's going to be 100,000s of words more yet! I'm not sure where the balance is for speed and content.
I'm kind of rambling a bit because my head still isn't 100%, but it was definitely on my mind a lot this week.
For now, I'm definitely just still going with it, because I was really encouraged by people's reactions to the demo and the nuances and small details people were loving finding, as well as the bigger moments too!
So yeah, it was an interesting week of a lot of thinking seeing as I couldn't be writing. I'm back to writing now though, and seeing as I've got so far into M's scene, I figure I better finish it before getting that editing of Chapter 7 done, right? ;D

"Poor communication?" I retort.

You put your heart and soul into your work, and it really shows in how you have brought alive so many characters, including our detectives. Sera you better be planning on resting this weekend!!! Your health is much more important than the game! And, hm... I personally would be happy to wait however long we need for you to write the game you want to write. At the end of the day you need to be able to look at the book and be happy with what you are making and if that means it takes longer then that’s how it is! If you can find a balance between variance and speed that makes you happy too then that’s also great! Just know we support you no matter what! ❤️

And in regards to taking longer with working in more variables, i am all for! i love how every time i chose different things there actually happen different scenes! it makes the vampires and all the other characters come alive, make them more themselves! so, if you ask me, take all the time you need, Mishka! your stories, your writing is worth the wait!

You do you and i would prefer the game takes longer to get out and we get what you really want us to get and not a corners cut version because you rushed it. Like choice of robots was 800 000 words and it was great because variations. So take the rime you need we will wait.

Take as much time as you need, and take care of yourself! <3 The amount of work that you put into Wayhaven is incredible, and it really shines through in the moments where we get to see our MCs personality exactly as we imagined, or something small comes back around in a later scene (like F and the paper airplanes, or A using the word "crashing" instead of "barreling" when talking to UA hehe). It really does make the story immersive and personal and we can't thank you enough for that! :)
