The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update+ 11/March/2022
🕑 Added 2022-03-11 15:11:25 +0000 UTCSo, it was super weird going back to writing a kind of Book One Mason/Morgan for these scenes! Even as their creator, I forget just how hostile and grumpy they are around new people (Tina and M, particularly, grate against each other...) :D
But in Verda's dinner scene, things took a very unexpected turn! So that was fun! I love when things surprise me, 'cause I hope it means it'll be an interesting surprise for you guys too, hehe!
I should be able to finish up on Verda's scene tomorrow, which means I can move onto the 'after party' small moments for the Tina's and Verda's! Shouldn't be too bad for those either, as it's more variation-based within one scene.
Then it'll be moving onto the final version of Chapter 11, which is the 'Neither Knows' branch! Ah, it's gonna be a fun one too :D I'm particularly looking forward to writing the LI parts for this scene, as they come after the meet-up, and I have some moments I've been seriously keen to write!
But next week I am taking the time to set aside for editing. I'm getting waaay too far behind on that, and although it's been nice pushing ahead on the writing, I can't let the editing build up like I always do, lol.
I've got to add in the stuff SpunkyCat sent me and then try to untangle some more of Chapter 8 for her, because she's been waiting to patiently to keep going on it! Then I want to focus on editing more of Chapter 10, as well as making a start on the Tina scene for editing in Chapter 11.
I know editing is what makes writing really shine, so I have to push myself to do it...even if I seriously keep procrastinating with it! :D
But man, I added up the total word count of Book Three so far and yeah...it's definitely the biggest project I've ever done in my life! We're already well over 630,000 words (in comparison, Book Two was about 750,000 in total iirc, so it seems very likely I will bypass that by quite a bit), and I have a lot of content left to go!
I just can't wait for you guys to see what's coming!!!

"I thought you'd be more bothered by me," Mason/Morgan remarks, the words spoken through a stream of smoke.
"Bothered by you? No. You're upfront about what you are. No hiding. I…appreciate that." The man turns his head to meet Mason/Morgan's gaze. "Bothered by your manners? A little more so."
The smoke turns ragged as he/she chuckles deeply in response.

It's almost like there's some respect going on here...I couldn't believe it even as I was writing it, hehe! But it really did flow so naturally for this scene! :D

That verda moment isn't surprising at all. People who are ...real... that's a good word for it tend to be respected even if they are off-putting

Can't say I'm surprised about M reverting to hostile and grumpy M (and figure it's probably directed at the MC at that point, too, since he won't want to be there). I don't know what else the MC could expect from forcing M to go to a friend's house with them, though! Worse, at Tina's, it's an "almost" date, which would really set M off, especially with Tina needling them. But the Verda moment of kinda respect is surprising. I figured I'd have to force my M-mancer to go the route of nobody knows to avoid M being an ass to my MC (plus, I just can't see her asking M to either of them!), but maybe the Verda route isn't so bad! Have a great weekend!

When I first started Wayhaven in 2018, Ava was my go to romance. Then N surprised me and became number 1. But after doing M’s route, I can safely say she is the absolute best romance in terms of character development. Cannot wait for all the M moments in Book 3!

...I can see M and Verda having a nice, if odd, friendship. In the kind of way you see two people who should dislike each other based on their personalities getting along like two peas in a pod.
