We can't grow back limbs or anything like a star fish but for being non magical silly little breakable things humans have pretty cool regenerative powers! When you get a cut bad enough to scar the skin over the area is thicker. You're bones are the same. That's why Thai kick boxing fighters have been know to train by kicking trees. It causes small breaks and fractures causing the bones to heal back stronger. So you're not far off. 😁
