Unseen Scene, Bobby Kiss Reveal— Book Three, Chapter Five (Nat POV)

That one word from this particular human’s mouth sends a wash of nausea through Nat.
“Alone?” The word repeats from Nat sending a chill of dread through her that she does a good job at not letting show on her expression.
The reporter is smug enough without adding to her ego with Nata’s true reaction.
But she apparently doesn’t do as good a job at masking it as she hoped, as Bobby’s delighted gaze snaps to her, drinking in every tense line and concerned edge that tugs at Nat’s posture.
"Yes. We do get up to all sorts of things when we're together by ourselves,” she continues.
This revelation is difficult enough to stomach but when [Name]’s heart kicks a beat beside Nat, it only has the awful punch of jealousy hitting deeper into her chest.
Jealousy. Such a dreadfully disgusting emotion. Not one Nat is ever used to feeling and never wants to. She has no right to feel it. [Name] owes her nothing. Yet…it is hope of the possibility of something between them that brings out a bright green in Nat’s eyes that she can’t stop.
Bobby takes her time in revelling in their reaction. Savouring every morsel of thick apprehension that lingers in the air. "That kiss last time we were alone." Her tongue draws a line across her lips in a way that makes Nat want to vomit. "Still makes me tingle."
A thousand emotions and thoughts hit Nat at once. A prominent one being: ‘Why her and not me?’. It stings. It cuts.
It’s also useless.
Lamenting over what has passed between [Name] and this slug of a reporter doesn’t change it.
And oddly, it only cements to Nat just how deeply and quickly she has fallen for [Name]. She hasn’t felt a reaction this stinging when hearing about anyone in…well, ever.
It doesn’t help soothe her, but it does make her realise how badly she wants to be the next person [Name] kisses.
And Nat will definitely not let it be as much of a footnote as this reporter’s romantic attempts likely were.
The thoughts rush with such ferocity, that it’s some time before Nat realises she hasn’t spoken—that none of them have spoken.
"You should probably get going. We have…a lot of work to do here,” Nat eases out, unsure what else to say. She has no right to feel the deep cut of pain that accompanied this news, but at the same time, she is heartened by her sudden resolve for [Name] to see her in the same light.
Now it is just working out a way of making it so.
Nat turns away from the pain of the scene, the disappointment of it still weighing on her shoulders, but also with the slightest sliver of hope she didn’t expect to feel.
…As long as [Name] wants it too.

Following this scene from Nat's POV, Mishka has given me a glimpse into Agent Sewell's stress "tells" - if you keep an eye out, when Nat gets stressed she reverts back to a more formal way of speaking and thinking, like she would've been used to in her original time of living! I will definitely have to keep a look out for this now!!!!

Same. The love interests seem to take consent VERY seriously (especially M, to a degree that makes me wonder if it has to do with M's traumatic backstory?) so I can imagine all hell would break loose behind the scenes after the detective tells their LI that Bobby kissed them like that. (We already know A has a profile on Bobby LMAO. Imagine that profile after THIS event.)

I really want to see everyone's internal thoughts at: "s/he kissed me. I didnt want that" cause i can just feel the quiet rage bubbling under their skin and possible relief

I want to say that even if N does not like "jealousy". I remember when N said to Alima "jealousy doesn't suit you" - Hhhmm, guess who is jealouse now, Natey 🌚 & changing the eye color - huuuuuh?? Natey ?? 🌚🌚
