Progress on Update 1.5
🕑 Added 2023-05-17 13:52:30 +0000 UTCThe current update readiness is about ~70%. Which is not bad, but still not enough, in my opinion. Especially when considering that I set a deadline by the end of the month. Now I'm forced to follow that and to work harder.
A little burnout has already started to show up, but I'm running faster so far. But burnout, it's like a maniac from a horror movie, walking quietly behind you, but still somehow managing to get closer and closer... Screw you, burnout! I'll make it to the end of the month! You won't catch me! Ha-ha-ha!
But if seriously, I may make it by the last days of the month, assuming no "circumstances beyond my control" intervene. Right now, the situation is normal. Well, as normal as things can be in wartime. In any case, there have been no blackouts since March. And if no nasty things happen before the end of the month, then the update won't be postponed.
A few words about the update's content.
Just yesterday I finished the biggest scene in the update (up to 5 phases, as well as a direct correlation to two other scenes). And no, that scene is not with Iolanta or Cadonis. Although they're involved there, too... in a way. Who this scene is with, I think you've already guessed, and if not, well, then it will be a surprise.
Overall, in this update, the protagonist will be in some situations that she hasn't been in before... Damn, now how do I tell you about the features without revealing the details, because for a story-based game, that would be spoilers? Ugh! Also, the update will bring up a situation that is usually avoided in popular culture. And in RPGs, this aspect, to my memory, was not raised at all.

Yes, in this situation I also would prefer a little delay. But I'm usually minority in such cases.

No, I can't say it's so bad. There is a very real possibility that the update will be delayed by about ~ a week or so. But, technically, I promised before May 31, so that (if it happens) would be a violation of my word. What can I say... I still often find it hard to estimate the scope of work. Some scenes in my head seem moderate, but when I start working with them, they sprawl wildly. It becomes a dilemma whether to ditch them or do them properly. I steadily choose the latter. As for finishing a little earlier than planned. In the current case, that would be a terrible option. Where 1.5 should end is a perfect place in terms of story for a break/pause/cliffhanger (whatever you may call it). If I finish a little earlier, you'd feel like you've been interrupted in the middle of an ongoing show's episode.

Well, if things go that bad, maybe you can still back off and release 1.4 (or even 1.45). Yeah, that's not great, but if you insist on meeting the promised deadline and the cost is just some unfinished story arc … then it's fair enough.

Take your time! Your health and well being definitely comes before this. I also just wanted to say that this game is one of the few I’ve really enjoyed playing over the years and am excited to see what’s to come! It’s also always nice to hear from you via these updates 😊

Thanks for the kind words guys, but I don't know. The last time I thought people would be understanding was in December. But I couldn't make the update by the desired deadline, and a bunch of people dropped their support right away. I fear a repeat of that scenario.

Yes, don't exhaust yourself. A part of me can't wait to continue to play. But it's worth nothing if you have a burnout. Your health is more important than a game.
