Story once again put the collar on me and started pulling the chain demandingly: “Do this!”, “Do this too!”, “Where are you going? Do this one too!”
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
My original plan was to just do a couple of transitions and get right to the scenes I needed to complete the episode. That's why the last update was labeled 1.69 because I was just going to finish ~10% of it.
Then the episode got bigger because in keeping with that itchy “get it right” feeling, I moved some of the events from the next update (1.8) into the current one (1.7). At that time, the update began to feel not so big, but quite a solid one.
Now, just by the fact of unbiased numbers, like the draft (it's already 500+ pages in there, and it's clearly heading towards 600), engaged variables and passages on the game engine, the word count, and other things... I can confidently state - that this update will be no less than the last one (1.69), and perhaps even... bigger.
I don't do it intentionally, really.
Sometimes an idea seems like a seed, so small, and what's there to worry about, eh? And then it sprouts wildly! Yeah, when you're already working with it... It spreads its branches in all, sometimes quite unexpected, directions. And just to take and cut them off to speed up the process seems almost sacrilegious.
I guess the fact that the update is going to be much bigger than anticipated is good news. It is good, right? Aaand, the fact that I again mis-estimated the amount of work and (twice!) confused you, guys... Erm. Sorry?
Oh, well, the mistress is yanking my collar again. Off to work on a scene... a lewd one, by the way. Oh, stop tugging, I'm going, going!

And so yes, I suppose that you are a big reader, quite passionate about all these civilizations of the past... Uh, probably?? I imagine that this should help you for writing this kind of text-based game. But nevermind: continue as you are doing, cause it must be said; I genuinely think you do it very well the friend!+!

1. It is closer to the Roman Republic than to the Empire. With the exception that Valatea is an aristocratic republic, not a people's republic (as the Roman one was). This means that the common people, even as formally as in Roman times, do not participate in any voting. 2. There is no single source of inspiration. Even the reference to formal antiquity does not fit here, because despite the similarities and shared phenomena, I am not using direct copying of any particular ancient society. Valatea and Dominion have vibes of ancient Rome and Greece. Inuatar carries traits of ancient Inca and, in a way, Egypt. Ranala is somewhat like any nomadic tribe settled after conquest. The Yadardanari, with their clan society, even though they come from deserted and lifeless lands, are culturally reminiscent of the Celts or Gauls.

In fact, I've been wondering for a long time now, which ancient civilizations did you draw inspiration from when creating your great game?&? Is there any notably the ancient Roman Empire (I'm referring to the < senate > which apparently rules firmly the Valatean Republic ;-🤔)? And also: what were your sources of inspiration by the way???

Again, sorry for the long silence here, it somehow didn't occur to me that people might interpret it as if something bad happened. I was just hoping that my next post here would be the update release announcement, but the episode went way beyond the planned scope and I kept delaying and delaying informing about this.

I never create a game. But sometimes, I think about doing one. Then my imagination start to produce ideas over ideas. So I think that it can be just as challenging to get some ideas, than to limit the flow of your imagination.

Uh, well, my silence is mostly due to working on the game. Sometimes it's hard to find the energy to just write something else, especially after hours of writing, editing, translating, coding, or whatever is on schedule one day or another.
