Attempting a sub 5 minute mile. Attempt #1
🕑 Added 2020-04-28 19:46:55 +0000 UTCNow that my toe nails have dropped off and I can run again, I've set my self the challenge of running a 5 minute mile (slightly downhill)
I've picked a nice, peaceful, scenic stretch not to far from where I'm currently living, and one that's conveniently slightly downhill. This way I have a chance at cracking 5 minutes. There's also a couple of Strava challenges down this road too, so hopefully I can leg my way up the leaderboards as I regain fitness.
Today I attempted to beat my debut time of 5:45 in the rain. I gave it a bloody good go.
My official time today was:
5:24 ..Reckon I'll do it guys?? It's a tall order..

Nice. I'm impressed with a 5:24 on such little recent training. I'm a pretty serious runner (4:46 mile PB on the track), but I can only break 5:00 if I've been doing consistent speedwork.

I guess it’s fair to say that you’ve revealed yourself to be the flash in that middle part. But good job man!

The time lapse is hypnotic. Your editing style always seems to do more with less.

I see I'm not alone in using the technique of wagging your head like a desperate fleeing sealion the last 100 meters of a record attempt. Seems like the ideal route for a PR though, good job man.

Park runs are awesome too, I love touring them. With the lockdown, it's a great time to be out running, I'm trying desperately to improve my times!

Haha good point mate. I don't think I was far off one walking back home in the rain..

yeah mountain runs look really cool. Brutal though. Hard on the knees!

Do it! yeah I did a half marathon about 3 years ago, Warwick. Got 1:32 something, not bad! you?
tom davies

Please make sure your upcoming videos are queued up to post on YouTube in case you have a heart attack due to this challenge 😉 Good on you to do this though!

Used to do a lot of running in and for the millitary. Going back into shape this summer. I was aming for ultratrailmarathon, and mountain runs. Nothing this fast paced.

Good on ya mate. Really want to try something like this! Have you ever run a marathon/half-marathon?
Jake Campbell
mate you're well fast! looks like you're in fast forward or something
Ross Gall
Most people would struggle to cycle it in that time
tom davies
That's fast as fuck on a flat! No way I could do that.. All I did before this race was the 5:45 mile. Before that I hadn't ran since Christmas eve because of a bad ankle followed by the toe nail issue. I'm naturally fairly fit though so that helps, and the slightly downhill gradient on this run helps a lot!

Thanks mate! what level do you run at?

This is a different type of video. I used to run track in high school and my best was 5:30. I have started running again and average 9 minute pace now. How much training did you do before this video and what is your experience with running?

I'm an elite 800/1500m runner and can't lie this was pretty entertaining to watch, if you want any help way training let me know
