I think I might have myself a new career..

You prpbably just helped agent 47 uncover the location of his next target
No way! That'd make some banging videos mate

Never mind, I see you have addressed this above :)

I'd be careful answering requests like that, though.... could easily be somebody making up an excuse to get you to help them stalk or harass somebody. :/
Sierra Shellabarger
Yess this is a great idea
THATS A GREAT IDEA Chris ^^^
Ethan Brier
I think the Geowizard channel is approaching a revolutionary upgrade
Definitely!! I’m sure you don’t need ideas, but to skirt around dodgy requests from stalkers how about a series where we just submit a photo of ourselves and you try and solve where we are? Or better yet you could put a callout for fans to film a 30 second video of themselves on a night out walking to a pub/bar that you’ll then need to track down like some sort of Drunk Detective
People are bringing up the Eurpol stuff which is great but might be too sensitive for YouTube. Definitely something to consider for Patreon however!

If you don't already, you should check out the investigative journalism outfit Bellingcat. They do a ton of work with open source material, and a lot of it is via geolocating pictures from just what's seen in images For example, this investigation involved pictures from Europol that involved child sex trafficking. They used the image background and contextual clues to find out where precisely the photo was taken (the victim cropped out), finally managing to locate it near Odessa, Ukraine. Obviously there's more to it than just knowing what the vegetation/buildings/cars look like in a certain country, but you might find it interesting. https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2019/09/11/europols-child-abuse-image-geolocated-in-ukraine-a-forgotten-story-hidden-behind-a-landscape/

Nice, I'd like that format!
you are absolute mental mate
Aaron Martin
Yea but more than just finding the area Maybe figure out I’m the model but ehhh idk
Here's an idea for a video: we submit packs of 5 holiday/travel photos of the same place, you have to guess the location. Each photo you look at reduces your score by one point so you only get the maximum of 5 points if you guess based on one photo. You could open photo 1 of each pack off video to pick the best locations to go in to a video as you just know some people are submitting the alleyway behind their local Chinese.

the video on this would be thoroughly enjoyed
Incredible, you have to do a vid on this

My exact concern. It would be hugely entertaining but could certainly be abused pretty badly. My idea would be like it's done on r/roastme. People handwriting that they consent on a piece of paper on a picture. This is way it gets way harder to abuse.
Guillaume Elias
I think it's pretty clear that your talent is wasted entertaining geeks like us
With bikini bottoms like that it would have taken me all of 10 seconds.
rocketfox
The idea's cool, but could be abused -- be careful you don't end up helping domestic abusers track down their exes or stuff like that. (And as for catfishers, the person in the photos often has nothing to do with the catfishing)
Nicholas Van Buer
Nice detective work! But how do we know the catfisher didn't just grab some random images from the internet?
Maybe this could be a series where Patreons (or any fans) can submit photos with no context and you have to find the location? Ofcourse some will be much easier than others. *sends Tom a photo of me in front of the Eiffel Tower*

WOW

Haha cheers everyone. Very good point about the possibility that this dude is bullshitting and just wants to stalk the girl in the photo. That dawned on me afterwards so I did ask him a few more questions about it and it seemed ligit, but I will employ a stricter vetting process in the future. How I got it so quick: I knew it was tropical (coconut, palm trees) but the roofs looked Indonesian. Verity then piped up with Bali, which seemed the obvious place to start (credit to Verity!) I then typed "checkered swimming pool Bali" into google images (even though it's spelt chequered" and found the hotel a few pages down. I was actually dumbfounded at how quickly we found it. I want more.

The new hottest series on YT!
Rémy Hauspie
I love how that person figured out how he could put your talents to use in his investigation haha
can't wait this videos
fartman5000
How did you find that exact hotel so quick?
Are you a god
The question is... were you allowed to pan, zoom and move or not?
Dude on that kgb type of energy

Sweet baby jesus Tom, you look great in a bikini.
Yeah definitely you should do it it seems fun and interesting I know I would watch it.
Viniter
Only thing I would be worried about is the legitimacy of requestors intentions... last thing you want is to help out some creepy stalker.
I'd 100% watch a full series of this
It would - also there's an opportunity to do some good with these skills, as organisations like EuroPol and Bellingcat occasionally put out requests similar to this, for catching abusers etc: https://twitter.com/Europol/status/1051812094214066177
James
Very impressive work, Tom. Or maybe you are the catfish (or the model) who sent the photos... The plot thickens...
Alrose
Haha amazing!
How is that possible😂
Mark Furniss
What ......eh? ........excuse me ? How did you find it ?
Adam William
Make it a series!
Chris Harwood
This is amazing.
what. how.
GeoWizard putting the FBI out of business in 2021 What a year already!
Elliot Smith
Is this person trying to boink the model or are they just generally interested? 😆
bo0tzz
And the madman figures it out too! I personally love puzzling out things like this, watching you have a go at it could be cool :D
