Sheffield to Manchester Ultra in the ice (again) with Ben Cook!

Having inadvertently picked the coldest day of the year to run across Wales back in March, coming about as close to freezing to death as we could ever hope to get, Ben Cook and I only went and accidentally picked the coldest November day in 13 years for our latest Ultra.
In spite of the sub zero temperatures, our plan was to cross the spine of England, aka the Pennines in a day; 47 miles starting at Sheffield train station and hopefully ending up at Manchester Piccadilly where we could each get an evening train home. The distance and elevation gain were actually both slightly greater than the cross Wales run, so it was going to be tough, but at least we didn't have 2ft of snow to contend with.
Join us as our battle with the treacherous icy terrain turns into a race against time to catch our respective trains home in the limited sunlight we had to play with, and don't miss the fascinating yet sombre surprise that lays waiting in the freezing baron landscape that was the journey's highest point, 620m above sea level.

Did my straight line across the peak district a month before in a shockingly similar route across the moors. Interesting to see Tom do a similar thing (at twice the speed)

Strava provides only error-accumulation navigation. The more people who take the same wrong route - the more it is promoted to the next person.
