Will I make it through this infuriatingly dense forest before dark? [ENGLAND PART 4]
🕑 Added 2024-06-15 19:00:06 +0000 UTCDay 3 of my most odds defying mission to date is under way and massive lake crossing aside it's a case of rinse and repeat; 11 more miles of dense, tormenting pine plantations to be completed before the disastrous descent of darkness. This time we do have more moorland to break things up along with better weather, but the trees, both vertical and horizontal, would do their very best to slow me down and drive me insane.
Some speech might be difficult to hear - use good speakers/headphones if possible and use the man made subtitles
Some good news and bad news for the patreon community:
Bad news: Next weekend will be a break weekend. An early baby arrival meant that I didn't get quite as much work done as I'd planned and because I don't want to compromise on quality, I need an extra week to get the next episode up to standard. E5 will hit your screens on the 29th of June.
Neutral news: $4 Tier people: I filmed something for you in the week, but it was a bit of a disaster, so I'm heading out tomorrow morning to have another go. The amusing yet satisfying final product will be with you around Thursday or Friday.
Good news: after 4 weeks off work (paternity) I am already clucking for adventures. I have some big ideas for the pipeline for this summer and beyond, which will result in memorable, satisfying content for both Patreon and YouTube viewer alike.

Congrats on the baby, hope all are healthy and doing well. Never a problem to postpone a bit, kiddos are unpredictable and wonderful, and family is your #1 priority!
Shaan Kularia-McCue
Congrats!! So happy for you and Verity :)
Paul Cooke
Hi Tom, congratulations on the new baby I hope it goes well for you, as a father of 3 it is definitely the hardest challenge I have ever faced, however I haven’t had to dodge angry farmers! I stumbled across your videos on YouTube 3 weeks ago and have binged them like a boxset ever since and now I’m a Patreon. Keep doing what you are doing as it’s riveting stuff and your sense of humour and controlled mischief is refreshing.

Hey Tom, just a quick question, do you think that a mission across Slovakia would be anything feasible? Thanks
Nick Schwarzer
Quick question Tom: Will you ever get a Christmas Tree again?
Lewis mcmillan
Care to give some thoughts or anything constructive?
Blayce Buckland
yoo that geowizard guy is a dad!!! haha congrats Tom, hope Verity and the little one are going good
Dustin Geddes
I think the good captions are missing from the reupload Edit: it's fixed! The captions are so well done and have slight jokes buried within...I couldn't rewatch without them
Dustin Geddes
*world's biggest eyeroll*
Dustin Geddes
Verity is a really fun name
Dustin Geddes
Your line was better
Chris Shea
@geowizard Can you release a best of moments video where you show some of the unique moments in full? For example your fallen tree crossing. Would have loved to see your reaction improve and experience the entire thing.
Lewis mcmillan
Controversial take: Ben helping you paddle may arguably amount to a failure.
Anders
Soft airgun goggles with a mesch will keep your eyes safe and will NOT fog up.
Huw Ramsay
Ahh fab congratulations to you both!
felix
congratulations on the baby!
tom davies
I've had to rerender and reupload this one guys as there were two mistakes in it. This means your YouTube comments will disappear so you'll have to recomment on the new one at 8pm (or at half time!) Apologies for this! sometimes things slip through the net.
Naturally JB
Hahaha I can only imagine, all the best mate ❤️
tom davies
I won't be going near that place!
tom davies
Good idea but I have to be more careful with battery life sadly!
tom davies
Damn... hindsight.
tom davies
Already is!
tom davies
No spiders out in the winter, not much else for that matter! The summer would be a different story..
tom davies
She is Huw!
tom davies
I film sporadically. I've gotten better at it.
tom davies
My support crew and my burning desire to get this done!
LordLard
Great going Tom - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwk - and a great reason for no vid next week of course...
Guillaume GRS
Tom's kid : Can we go to Disneyland ? Tom : we are going to cross AUSTRALIA in a straight line ! Anyway, congratulations Tom !
wortwicht
Everytime I See you jumping in a river I remember that one Video about the Bolton Strid. Are you aware that thing exists? I assume So, as it's quite close to you, but I'd love to know for sure. It's probably more dangerous than a firing range
Ewoud van Aalst
Maybe you should post the entire dense forest footage part as a patreon exclusive so we can feel like how bad it actually is
wortwicht
That is good to know :) All the best to you and your family! 🙂
Dustin Geddes
We finally saw the shot from the first sneak peak of this mission that we got months ago!
Nate Langhinrichs (Lang-HEN-rix)
"Planet Earth is blue....and where the fuck are you". Bit of a missed opportunity there mate. 'Grats on the baby though!
Arrghjay
How he hasn’t lost it by now is insane!
Arrghjay
Congrats Tom & Verity! Hope mum & the little one are golden. Loved this episode, but who the hell planted those trees so close?! Can’t wait for the next, I did some geophysics during my archaeology degree in a field next to a live firing range and that was hairy enough!
Ege Kaya
A firing range? You are a madman, Tom.
Antonio Karides
Congratulations Tom and Verity!!
Marte Kjelsberg
Congratulations Verity and Tom!
Alec
Happy Father’s Day sir
Naturally JB
Congrats on baby Tom! I'm sure it will be your hardest challenge yet. Absolutely loving this series, thank you!
Stuart Duncan
Amazing episode. Those pine tree forests are something else. One thing I'm curious about, do you ever run into big spiders or other bugs? When I'm hiking around state parks in the US and go off trail, I almost always bump into some large unpleasant multi-legged friend.
Simon V
That's not bad news at all! Congratulations, Tom!
Sam Townend
Looking forward to the next ep gunna be worth the wait hopefully see it before the impending edit removing the military firing range 😂
Billy Richardson
I fucking love straight line missions, they make my year when a new one comes out. I think theres something about the amazing music, ambience and just overall raw feel of it that hits different compared to other creators. Perfect way to end the day!
Simian
small gear upgrade suggestion for any potential future missions: wrist strap for the GPS that you can tighten. will help avoid dropping it again and can also leave it dangling occasionally if you need both hands free!
Huw Ramsay
Nice work Tom! Is baby born yet? “If I walk through there, they could shoot me” he smiled, dreaming at the very thought of such an excuse.
Daniel MacPhee
Na it’s fine Tom nothing to worry about mate
Daniel MacPhee
Do you have the camera rolling the whole time or just for part of the day ?
Tom Csöndör
This has to be one of the hardest straight lines you’ve done😁What keeps you going when it gets difficult?
Daniel MacPhee
Yep same feeling 7-1 tomorrow then out in the semis lol
Dan Melone
Okay, thanks. Looking forward to it. Been a banger so far.
tom davies
You did Dan yes!
tom davies
Have a bad feeling England will bottle it this time. A lot of expectation on the shoulders of those players..
tom davies
Wow that is some turn around! glad he's doing well. Ours was only 2 days early but I had planned to do a lot of work in those two days! haha
Torben Mayer
Even though it is in the next episode, I still can't believe he's gone for walking across the firing range. To anyone considering a straight line mission, I can tell you from living next to one for my entire childhood and knowing a lot from family and friends working there: DO NOT DO IT. If you ever thought something he did in these videos was dangerous, this is on a completely different level. This can be lethal for the most trained personell, and we have had several people die or get seriously injured, who were trained to look for unexploded material and gather it, because they havn't been careful enough. I am dead serious: Not the most precious of records should've done something like this and for once, I think Tom should really consider cutting it out and just don't talk about it. We have crossed railways far and wide when we were kids, but never have we set a foot in the areas of the firing range, and doing so publicy on YouTube will be more of a bad example than a rather simple high speed railway crossing (which is already stupid, but compared to this, its like a day in the park, especially since there were two of you which made it a lot safer to cross). Apart from that I wouldn't be surprised if you got in trouble for that as well if you choose to show it. Anyways. Congratulations on the baby.
ShealyTN
As someone living in one of those states, I don't blame him in the slightest, lol
Ryun Rich
was being sarcastic lol
dvdvideo10
I think he once said that will probably never happen, at least not in those states where they're allowed to shoot on sight when your on their property.
Jaakkima
Congratulations to you and Verity! A new challenge awaits and I'm sure you'll both do great. And the dad lore is going to be epic. Not everyone's got a real adventurer as a dad. By the way. Why would anyone plant trees like that?
Ryun Rich
whens straight line USA? :)
James M Errington
There are some fun missions you can do with kids, saw one guy that introduced his kid to a new generation of gaming consoles every year, starting at age four
James M Errington
Mostly non-native to the UK, or at least the ones carrying nasty diseases, but they are on the increase here.
Anders
Go for a pair of Soft arigun goggles next time.
Ryan Stevens
Congrats to you and Verity on the bambino. Babies seem to be arriving earlier these days, our little Verity (great name I’m sure you’ll agree) was 4 weeks early although it seemed like top trumps with other new parents with how early theirs arrived! Have you thought of any first Dadventures you’d like to take your little one on when they are a bit older?
James M Errington
Another fantastic episode, so glad you're past most of that forest now. And congratulations on the baby!
Thea Haugland
I can't believe the baby is already here! It feels like only a moment ago you told my boyfriend and I in a pub on the Isle of Man. Deepest congratulations to you and Verity both, do take the time you need with the little one.
Dan Melone
Did I read that correctly? No episode next weekend?
Daniel MacPhee
Congratulations to you and Verity !!! Any predictions for the euros btw ?
RHYS
How are you not covered in ticks?
Damien Fenton
I just caught up with last week's video. All I can say is a big fair play for getting through that physical and mental anguish!
Johannes Wiberg
This is awesome, but make sure you take the time you need for Verity and the wee one. Love the vids and all but that can wait!
wortwicht
Dear Tom, Congratulaions to you and Verity for what will be your most exciting adventure! If I read that correctly, your child was born a bit too early. That happened to us as well. My Son weighed less than a Kilo and today He is 13, one of the tallest in His class and just the loveliest, smartest and happiest Person I have the Privilege to know. If I undeestood you incorrectly, please excuse my message - just wanted to let you know that it will be fine. Just in case. Love your Channel so much! ❤️
Brad
You always know how to drop a video and make our day! Even better that i get to watch this in a tent!
Imraduin
Hell yeah, every saturday evening is a banger while this series is running!
Sasha de Goguel
Parenthood straight line mission, get in.
Matthew Moffatt
Congratulations to you and Verity on the baby again. Looking forward to any adventures you've got cooked up for us!
