I stuffed a tenner in my pocket and walked along the coast of Cornwall...
🕑 Added 2024-10-26 18:17:12 +0000 UTCGood evening Patreons! here's a treat to brighten up your weekend. Let me know your thoughts down below...
By popular demand the £10 in my pocket series is back, and this time things go up a notch. Join me as I set off from Plymouth and simply head west down the stunning south west coastal path with a tenner (£10) in my pocket and a sleeping bag. The results to this experiment last time around in Staffordshire were fascinating, so how might it turn out in a setting which is half bustling touristy fishing villages and half dramatic rugged coastline? sit back, relax and find out...

Me too! Such a great format!

Very cool, Tom! I'm curious why you don't use a proper canteen, though?
Adam
Thank you very much!

Thanks for the feedback Laurence. I'll consider this!
tom davies
thanks Jack!
tom davies
very true. I am truly blessed here!
tom davies
nah it was fine, it had just been in my warm bag for 24 hours haha

No equipment but a sleeping bag, gopro batteries and toothbrush/paste! I did take a GPS too which came in handy for seeking out public rights of way. You can relax more on those. Other than that, be confident, be brave and try to take in your surroundings :)
James Tranter
“Fancy a bum” 😂😂😂 I’m hoping that guy was quoting Balls of Steel!! Then again, might not be if he was hanging around in a public toilet…
Tom Gidden
I thought it was real, but frankly wasn't that surprised! :D Glad you kept it in (ooer)
max
It made me laugh 😂
Adam
Hey Tom. Been really inspired by this series and the earlier one from Aldridge to Buxton. Would you be able to do a tutorial on how to prepare for one of these at some point (i.e. what equipment to take, general advice etc?)
FXT
I adore these videos. So simple in concept yet so entertaining
Kimbo
The pork pie was no good, I assume? The "expired farm" sound affect from Age of Empires was a beautiful touch. Fair play. *Edit I see the sound has been used multiple times, but still enjoyed it.
Greg Myren
I saw it on YouTube and came straight to Patreon hoping it would already be posted, honestly. Still happy to support but this is very smart and would benefit everyone
Infernal Nernal
I really wish there was somewhere in the states I could do one of these, but everything is just so spread out, especially here in Nevada. It would quickly become an actual survival situation haha. It might be a specifically UK/EU type of adventure.
Infernal Nernal
Damn I gotta go check out Cornwall. It literally looks like the south of France. Great video, these may be your best format
Jack
This might be my favourite video you’ve ever done.
Joseph Alfasi
no need mate and to answer u no i wont
Daniel Ratcliffe
Agreed! "Join the Patreon for Part 2 now" is a great model for a series
Laurence Pike
What you should do is post parts 1&2 on Patreon at the same time, and only part 1 on YouTube. That way people just finishing part 1 on YouTube can sign up for Patreon to watch the rest immediately rather than waiting a week
Brandon
Top notch content
Paul Bragg
Unbelievably great content again.
Mac Eckstrand
Less than a mile in and homie is already fighting through bushes 😂.

Put the weed down bro

Feel like I need to visit Cornwall now! Didn't realise how gorgeous it was!
Chris O'Connor
Love this, I hope we get even more Tenner adventures to come! It’s the perfect combination of a bit of the challenge of a straight line and the creating your own adventure part of how not to travel!
Rémy Hauspie
Another instant classic 😍. One ep in and I'm already considering going and walking the South West Coast Path myself. The 'Tenner in my Pocket' formula is proving to be equally as entertaining as both Straigh Line Missions and the How not to Travel-series. But in a different, more relaxed way. It's like there's a calmness washing over me while I watch this. Don't know if it's just me but this series feels like playing the postgame of a videogame. It's got that same quality to me somehow. You've finished all the main quests and bosses, but you still walk around the map and explore a calmer, friendlier, emptier world. Its beautiful and relaxing, but it invokes reflection and retrospection in all its simpleness.

Did I see that correctly?? Was there an actual arrow pointed at Austria??? If you are ever in need of anything on Austrian soil, please feel free to reach out! Much love!
tom davies
wow thanks mate!
tom davies
that's mad!

Believe it or not I don't always find it easy to socialize with strangers, but what I have learned is that it often gets easier the more you do it!

Releasing tonight on YouTube :)
tom davies
Same here. So refreshing to see in such a young guy!
tom davies
That is incredible Ruth. It fills me with pride to learn that I may have inspired you to escape what sounds like a desperate situation
tom davies
haha nah it's from a British TV show called balls of steel. I don't really know why I put it in to be honest.
Oskar
As brilliant as ever. Thanks Tom!

Currently at an all Inclusive resort on holiday ...drinks stop at midnight . At 11.58 did a straight line challenge short cut to the bar though some bushes and vegetation for the last drink ....and made it 💪💪💪💪

Honestly- This is too good to not post it for everyone. Probably my favorite series you've made yet mate. A true adventure! (I also got that Proteiiiin reference haha)

Hope you had a good (albeit brief) passing through Plymouth :) - If you are ever here again you have a free pint on me lol
Damien Fenton
Seriously, these Tenner videos are shaping up to be just as incredible as the Straight Line missions. I'm actually in awe of how incredible your videos are. Top class entertainment by a natural born storyteller.

You know we’re in for a treat when the Taz hat is on
Steven Hocker
Thoroughly enjoyed this one! I always think this is something I could do but I think my social skills are lacking and would make the interactions difficult, definitely an underrated aspect of these adventures!
Johannes Wiberg
This is as good as it gets man, IMO. Peaceful with stunning environment, but also adventurous with a big dollop of feel-good from all the nice people you encounter. Thank you for this lad!
David L
Your luck and charisma are off the charts in this one. What a fantastic episode.

Watched the whole thing with just a stupid grin on my face. Loved every second. There is something about this series/idea which is just so magical. Blackberry guy and the argument teased at the end of the episode had me cackling

Every time I tell people in Germany I am going to Cornwall they go, ahhh… “Como! Italy!” I was just telling my wife this and then bang - your T-shirt appears. Spooky!!!

Got a flight back from Mallorca tomorrow morning, any way to download this to watch on the flight? Can't wait!
