Oo Oo can I do a first meeting origin story? Enji works on a trawler with a new crew (company reshuffle) one night he wakes up to a terrified keen and rushes up to the deck. The rest of the crew are there surrounding a merman that has been caught in the nets (hawks was freeing some dolphins when the nets got hauled in) they are discussing what to do with it and decide pulling the gold scales to sell for money is the best option. Enji says ‘no we have to free him’ and starts cutting away the net. Fight ensues. When the boat is found and brought back to the harbour it is obvious that Enji’s injuries are man made, the rest of the crews are not. No one will talk. From his hospital bed Enji just says ‘he is safe’ Enji can’t get hired on another boat and the family moves up the coast where he works in a fish factory. He misses the sea though and goes fishing every weekend. Sometimes he imagines he sees a flash of gold in the waves. There is a nasty squall where some nets get blown into the sea. Hawks uses this as a chance to reconnect 😳 The trawler crew have to quit the sea because once they are back on the water they never catch a single fish again. No one can explain why. (Merfolk are petty like that and Mirko was pissed they hurt her friend.) Thank you for reading if you did. Your art is always inspiring and amazing!! 😶‍🌫️
