We hope you all managed to give Sam's puzzle a try - what a beast! Many people commented to say that they needed a little bit of trial and error to complete it, which is understandable but there is a logical path!
We're very grateful to Sam for both creating the puzzle but also for this solution video in which he explains how to solve his creation :)

Rules: Normal sudoku rules apply. In cages digits sum to the small clue in the top left corner of the cage. Digits cannot repeat in a cage. Clues outside the grid give the sum of the cells on the indicated diagonal. Digits may repeat along the diagonal.

Very nice solve! I went pretty much all the way, but did not figure out that red square trick, but made a pretty good guess at where the 7 could be and solved the puzzle. It was good to see the logical resolution for that.
(I got stuck because I didn't think about coloring. Then when he mentioned it, I paused, did that, then got stuck at the pinwheel. Didn't get any further.) Brilliant puzzle, though. :)

Me halfway through the video, when he solves the point I got stuck at: ARGH IT WAS SO OBVIOUS, I COULD HAVE DONE IT IF I HAD BEEN JUST A BIT MORE CLEVER Me 2/3rds into the video: Ah, nevermind, I never stood a chance, thank God.
