What better way to kick off the New Year than with a brilliant Sudoku Hunt by Peter C Hayward. As trailed in our book, CTC's Greatest Hits, and on the channel, Peter has created a remarkable journey through time and space that you will LOVE working your way through.
Once you have reached the end and "decided on the name for the next trilogy", email us at crackingthecryptic@gmail.com - we will be reading out some of the first successful solutions, and one person who emails us the correct solution by 4pm on 20th January will win a prize!
The document attached is all you need to solve the sudoku hunt, but if you would like CTC app URLs, they are below (without coffee stains, or 'rules'):

When are the solution vids being released?
Will there be solution videos for these? I certainly hope so!

Too difficult for me. I hope the next one is a step down in difficulty to make it more accessible.
Josh
Me too. I spent a few hours trying and couldn't get anywhere. Hopefully there will be a step down in difficulty soon.
I did fine with the pyramid hunt except for the very end. This one I couldn't touch at all. That kind of wordplay "cryptic crossword" type content is not for me. I don't mind going to the discord for help either, but when the correct answer turns out to be something like "yeah x usually means y, but when the moon is in scorpio it might mean z, and so the shape of a z is like a 2 so the number here would be 2 except that 2 can also stand for the letter B so it's a B", I'm just out. That does not make me happy to try to solve. At all. All the more power to those who enjoy it.

Finished it! First time I've done one of these within the time. Only got through it with extensive help from the Discord community tho ... thanks guys :)
Similar sentiments here. I managed to get through Clover's Sense of Place hunt, finding Everest fun and easy, but the Pyramid hunt and the Star Wars reward were frustrating. Happy to find loads of content on the discord server, though.
My sentiments too. I am no solving slouch - maths brain, top 1% of population when measured. Puzzle 1 was reasonable but I spent far too long becasue the Super 8 clue was quite ambiguous (it being an 8 x 8 grid). Puzzle 2 had quite a narrow solution path and a novel interpretation of the sandwich mechanic (yes, it's inferable from the rules but after 2 hours battling along the wrong path you do lose the will to go on). Puzzle 3 I found impenetrable. 11 or 12 puzzles in a month (even if you took 1 hour per puzzle) is one hell of a commitment. I have another life involving family and earning income - that's where i will be concentrating my energies from hereon.
I spent a week solving the first puzzle. I would have spent as long on the second puzzle, except I broke down and went to Discord for help. The third and fourth puzzles I only solved because of extensive hints that were given to others on Discord. I am stopping there. It's just not fun. I had a similarly frustrating experience with the Christmas Puzzle Pyramid--some of them were okay, but far too many were just beyond me (especially the pencil puzzles). I know that lots of people enjoy these extremely difficult hunts, but I do hope that occasionally you'll back down the difficulty level a bit. I don't mind at all struggling a bit when there's a payoff--the discovery of the logic and a solution to the puzzle. However, it's disheartening when it takes days on end. Thank you. :-)
watching the episode IV cantina scene helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK_iw5Yps2M&t=267s
It's a scene from a movie, I know the scene but had to look up the script to ensure I had the correct numbers.
Thank you! Found "it" now:)

Great.... I can't figure out the clues for puzzle 1 :/
Scott Ramsdale
Well its definitely not 16 or 18
Any hints on the green phrase on puzzle 1? I think i understand the other two...(maybe).
Have spent far too long not solving the first puzzle. I got a fair way in (found the first 2 tricks) but the path to the solution must be quite narrow or intricate. Quite dissatsifying.
@Bootenks thanks, I'll give it a try! I had noticed the theme. I'll look harder. Pretty cool in a sudoku!
@Renee check the phrases from the top they refer sentences from a movie. (Simon mentioned the theme in the today's video) Then take a look on the shape of the stains and maybe you see the light in the dark.
No clue either for me! I tried using the coffee stains on the first one with a bunch of colours. No such luck. Perhaps some non-themed instructions would help and puzzle type? There's no instructions on the CTC puzzle links either. Good luck everyone!
