Both Hard Mode and Normal Mode were affected. The instructions are still the same: To enter the competition, tell us which of the three puzzles has the highest total in its four corner cells and what that total is, by email to crackingthecryptic@gmail.com, by 4pm BST on 20th May 2022.

Even if version 3, this correction to submission instructions is missing from the Hard Mode instructions, so copying here: > tell us which puzzle has the highest total for a 9-cell diagonal, and what that is, eg “Puzzle 1: 45”
