God, I feel Sal so hard in this scene. It's so irrational, but there's a strange, intense pang of humiliation to someone doing something outstandingly kind for you while you are realizing that they must be knowing you wronged them. Of course, when considering it rationally, this clearly means the other person doesn't mind (or doesn't mind enough to love you less), or still wants to hear you out. You're not a bad person for receiving their kindness, that's an informed choice they made. But if you've made to feel like you already never deserved kindness, like Sal has... if you, like him, always felt like people could only ever love your mask... then this is panic inducing and world shattering. I wanna hug him so bad and tell him that it's okay...
