Mermaid AU wips
🕑 Added 2022-11-06 06:30:35 +0000 UTCJareth and William would be very good friends in this AU! Nothing more. Jareth found a cove of sirens after travelling alone for a week, Cole having been taken by a mermaid rescue team.
Sirens love otter mermaids! An otter mermaid will bring their 'mate' shiny objects out of affection. Since sirens love to dress themselves with shiny jewelry to attract mates, they will often form relationships with otters to be brought pearls.
In Jareth's case, he finds a home with the pack of sirens. William had gently attempted to be a mate with him, but a frightened squeak and a nip to the hand made it clear that Jareth wasn't not interested. Rather than being a mate, Jareth will opt for an occasional cuddle with William, but not for long before he scampers off to lay around with the other sirens and makes melodies with them.
William never forces Jareth to cuddle, nor does he seek anything outside of a platonic relationship with him. Its clear Jareth isn't interested.
Luckily, Jareth still brings William shiny things!
Jobie finally has a design! I will add more detail once this post is colored, but much like canon Jobie, he is a collector! Rather than hoarding items that his lovers give him though, he hoards coins and jewelry. He is also very territorial with food, and will pretend to nip at the others if they come near while he's eating. (It's a bluff, he never really means to bite.)
Ace and Rory would befriend him and bring him to Gene, a fisherman who feeds them and has formed a bond with them.

Jareth thinks and socializes a bit differently is all. He personally does not seek sex. That's just how he operates, nothing very complex there to look deeply into :)

understood. i just thought maybe there was a reason since you said otters are the ones who usually believe they are mates with the sirens, yet jareth was scared when william attempted it
