Both are options as of now, and wheelbarrows would still be usable in the rest of the village even if they find out that they wouldn't be useful in the forest. As for stretchers, deer can usually go above 200kg, which would make it difficult for just two people to carry them through a rough terrain for long (the groups would have four people, but at least two should be ready with weapons, and four people wouldn't be able to manoeuvre well through the forest while carrying a stretcher anyway). Also, these are temperate forests, not tropical ones, which means the forest floor, while still having shrubs and bushes, would still be less dense than a tropical forest, so a wheelbarrow might still be useful there.

Possibly, but if they think that they could go on a third trip, Pydas would agree himself to return back. But as it seems right now, the roads might be blocked after they return back from the second trip, which means Pydas would already have difficulty in returning back. That's why if a caravan accompanied him back, it might not be able to return back to the village at all.

A sled makes sense for hauling meat in the winter, but I don't see a wheel barrow in thick, hilly, sometimes muddy forests as being practical. Stretchers would make more sense to me. They would easier to transport, maneuver through rough terrain, and they'll be in a group anyway, so they'll always have at least 2 people to use it. They can use that in the winter too I'd the snow isn't deep, in which case they could use the sled

For a third trip wouldn't it be possible to have the caravan accompany Pydas on his way back ti Cinran, he can buy the grains there and get the rest of the payment, and part ways while the caravan heads back?
