Hey! I would encourage you to reread Ch27 and Ch28 as I have decided to take your suggestions into account based on point 1) As for point 2b), Jaehaerys doesn't necessarily want to admit that fear even to himself but I think I've done my best to imply it in the new version. It's tricky character writing to imply a feeling and/or emotion even the character POV doesn't want to admit. After all not all people outright admit their feelings even to themselves.

I can't figure out how to reply directly to your reply so here's my reply. 1) I think an attempted assignation attempt is much more serious that the cannon's situation with Saera. And there was a partial reconciliation at Jace and Luke's birth (though damaged by the letter ignoring). So still don't see Alysanne stopping after she's decided to go see Viserra. If Jae knows how to poke Aly's buttons, Aly should be able to recognize he's pushing her buttons. And I don't know about you, but if my spouse was manipulating me into not going to see our kid who almost died, it would end very badly. 2) Social calls are pretty down low on the signs of favor, and I don't think break the image of a united House Targaryen. Especially of Jae endorses Aly's visit. Also, he very much wants to ensure Tyrosh knows he'd react if is daughter was killed. What better way to show that then to have a dragon rider visit? for b) that didn't show up in his thought process that I noticed. It does look like we'll disagree on most of these points. I think I'd find it more believable if there was some hint of compromise on Jae's side. Like saying he'd send Aemon to do a quick investigation at Tyrosh to see if there was any hint of involvement with people from the Seven Kingdoms. That way Jae gets to remind Tyrosh via dragon visit that killing their local dragonriders won't solve their problem, and he can show Aly that he's doing something. But that's just my suggestion.

Thanks I'm glad you like it! And to answer your posts, I'm not sure if you agree with my points but I hope to explain my reasoning. 1) I basically took what Jaehaerys said to make Alysanne stop when she said she wanted to go to Saera in canon and applied it here. Viserra and Alysanne have a very rough relationship and Alysanne's fear of being rejected holds her back from going, the same way it held her back from going to Saera. As far as she knows, Viserra will not welcome her and if she actually came to Tyrosh with Silverwing, it could easily come across as a threat to the Velaryons due to you know big dragon flying in on them. Viserra isn't not guilty here. She's rejected every single letter her family has written her and sometimes people really are just scared to try even when they should have. Chalk it up to Jae's manipulative skills. He's known Aly since they were babies, he knows exactly how to poke at her buttons. 2) Why does Jaehaerys want to stop her from going? Because A) it goes against the perception he wanted to create of a united House Targaryen opposing the Velaryons, visiting them on family social calls doesn't give that impression. B) He genuinely is afraid that Alysanne would join Viserra's side if they spoke now because Alysanne is talking about reconciling with Viserra. How dangerous could it be if Viserra was actually able to talk to her?

Hey, new reader here, just devoured High Tide in the past several days, absolutely love it. I really enjoyed the escalating back and forth between Jaehaerys and Corlys. And I've thought it was all super human, made perfect sense... except for this last bit. 1) I don't believe anything would Alysanne from going to her daughter if she believed Viserra's life was in danger. Alysanne still has guilt over ignoring her for so long, and then to ignore her in the face of death? I just don't buy it. And 2) I don't think Jaehaerys would try and stop Alysanne. I completely buy that Jaehaerys could talk himself out of reconciliation (Nice insight into Jaehaerys's thoughts btw) but Alysanne visiting isn't a reconciliation. It isn't even a sign that the Targaryens are willing to consider anything but complete and total capitulation. It could easily be framed as more of a reminder that the Targaryens are willing to accept the Velaryons when the Velaryons are ready to grovel. And it would do well to remind Tyrosh that even if Jaehaerys isn't happy with his daughter he will respond if she dies. I maybe could buy it if Jaehaerys internally worried that Viserra could talk Alysanne round if she had the chance, but even then it still feels like a stretch.
