👍

Tertius711

Thank you so much for letting me know. I will be sure to report it. And good call. I only go by the handle Tertius711 so this isn’t me at all.

Tariel Khalvashi

Dear author, someone is posting your story on a webnovel platform (http://wbnv.in/a/90iCCsZ). The author's name is also different from yours.

Tertius711

I will address that in the coming chapter so do stay tuned!

Robin

So it only just dawned on me that this means Laena and Daeron are going to get married. I wonder how quickly that marriage is going to happen? Will they try and have the wedding before Aegon's?

Tertius711

Haha. Dw too much about it. Stay tuned!

Robin

That answer fills me with terror

Tertius711

Let's see! Stay tuned.

Tertius711

Oh you guessed it! Nice.

Maciek

Don't know how all of this will play out, but hopefully something will finally go wrong for Targs.

Tertius711

Great points! Stay tuned to see how it goes!

Kolek

The conquest of Dorne probably wouldn't be very hard, but the integration would be. Thinking about it, that wouldn't be the worst timing for Jace to wage war for Lys and/Myr. It's an escalation, but a Dragon war is now inevitable, though not likely to start while Aemon is King. The Velaryons would likely integrate the conquered territories faster and more successfully. The Free cities are inherently richer than Dorne, and the majority of the population there would welcome them. It might be a worthwhile project at this point. I'm also curious if the Targaryens would want the Velaryons to help them as vassals should, or if they would want them far away so they don't have to share the glory. Looking forward to seeing how things play out!

Tertius711

That's a serious spoiler that you will simply have to stay tuned for I'm afraid.

Tariel Khalvashi

Please tell me how many Velaryons will have to die to defeat Targaryen?

Tertius711

Dorne will be conquered soon indeed. Most obvious solution for Targaryens trying to save face. Stay tuned to see how that plays out!

Kolek

I've wondering, since the Targeryen's are so pissed at the Velaryons expanding and overshadowing them, hasn't anyone brought up conquering Dorne? It would be a good way for them to unite the continent and remind everyone of their strength, like Jaeherys did with the Stepstones. Or are they too weary of invading Dorne when things are so uncertain with the Velaryons?

Tertius711

Training montage time lel. Stay tuned!

Pedro Eugenio de Lima

Time to train for dragon warfare. Let's see how the Velaryon dragonriders prepare.

Tertius711

It wasn’t a serious accusation, it was just something he said out of blind anger and stupidity, a defensive reaction to being rejected and thus his mind leapt to the first possible conclusion despite knowing deep down it wasn’t true. Ofc then Daeron punched him which got the anger flowing even more. And then Laena went to Daeron first not him which just seemed to feed into it more.

Robin

Glass candle? That would definitely help coordinate a war.

Robin

Mid level whiplash. It made sense that’s where Aegon would end up but it was weird that it happens so fast. I can see him accusing Daeron of sabotage, but accusing Laena of sleeping with Daeron felt a little weird.

Tertius711

It was never capital of anything but it was one of the only places outside Valyria to fully study Valyrian bloodmagic. I’m 100% certain the Dragonlords wouldn’t have allowed them any dragon lore whatsoever so the canon horns and spells used to control dragons is out. However there may be other secrets in Gogossos that greatly aid their war effort. In fact I’ve already name dropped the main one in both the previous chapters.

Tertius711

A good kind of whiplash or bad kind? Cause if Laena could tell that he was in love with her, Aegon could have as well and in his anger and upset that now the two of them will marry each other he lashes out defensively by trying to believe they never loved him at all. Theoretically they could though we don't have any cases of the Targaryens hatching dragons directly without prospective riders involved in canon. Eggs either hatched without interference or for Targaryens. They lack a Dragonpit to hold any dragons in though. They probably need to fix that. Generally speaking cradle eggs is the safest and easiest way to bond dragons to their children too I imagine.

ha vu

Gogossos magic??? I mean it was mentioned as the capital or something of magic with no presence of dragons, right? There might be something in those books after all. And the stuff used in canon to control dragons. There might be one in all of those vaults

Robin

Oof that's a heavy hitter. And Aegon going from let's elope to you must have been sleeping with my best friend was a bit of a whiplash. Question: could the Velaryons hatch a few dragons for the next generation now? give them time to grow before being claimed like Moondancer and Mourning?

Tertius711

Here's the problem. There very well could be. The Velaryons ride dragons as much as the Targaryens do. Anything they make could be turned against them.

Coconut mango

No harm in trying though, right...

Tertius711

Weirwood arrows are of debatable usage. Valyrian steel bolts maybe but wouldn't really solve the problem of scorpions just not having the aiming power. They're also a massive waste of Valyrian steel.

Coconut mango

Any and all dragon deterrence should be evaluated, Valyrian and otherwise...I'm thinking of the Brandon snow method, weirwood arrows. Also scorpions with Valyrian steel bolts.

Tertius711

But are there any tools really that will truly do anything to dragons directly? And if there are, won't that also hurt his own family?

Tertius711

Lover can also mean romantic, as in someone who loves you, not just sexually. He did not take her maidenhead.

Tertius711

Personally I doubt Gogossos was allowed any dragonlore whatsoever. Ain't no way the Dragonlords trusted those sickos with it. No I have another idea in mind and it's one no story has ever thought of and it's already been mentioned in the Gogossos arc already.

Tertius711

Let's see how those preparations play out. But is there really a way to fight dragons that doesn't amount to using other dragons or trying (and probably failing) to create technologies to kill or incapacitate dragons that everyone else will then end up using?

Tertius711

Glad you liked it! Stay tuned!

Tertius711

No gunpowder, ever. Assassins are an overrated plan too. I have ideas on how they can win but most importantly SURVIVE. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

Tertius711

How easy do you think assassination is though? In any case, let's see how the Dance plays out ITTL eh?

Tertius711

You asked for consequences for success in Gogossos and I'm glad I was able to deliver!

Tertius711

I can promise they will be and it may not be the ones anyone expects.

Kolek

Well, we all knew it was coming, yet seeing the fallout was still shocking. Let's hope that Jace found some Dragon horns or spells on how to make them. If those things can bind dragons, they could help negate the Targaryen advantage.

Revan

He invented the compass and clocks, and all type of wonders. It's time he focus his brilliant modern mind to tools of war.

John

You kept calling Laena Aegon's "lover" -- did he actually take her maidenhead? In this world doing that and not marrying her is a huge insult. Did you just mean "love?" Because there's no way Viserra wouldn't be more furious otherwise.

Timofei Alechkevitch

Very cool. Super excited to see what happens next

Maciek

"Aleia iacta est". After such display there is NO chance for reconcilation between families. Now Corlys and his family shouldn't waste time and start preparations immediately. That would include stashing resources, instructing his agents in Westeros to be prepared for sabotage and assasination missions rather than just spying, preparing plans for assault on strategic locations (Dragonstone at first, and King's Landing later) and reaching for potential allies - in Westeros, but also in Essos to block any potential Targ allies - don't know if Dothraks would agree, but if they did, Volantis would be excluded from potential dangers. But most important would be finding some way to combat dragons without resorting to use their own mounts and shooting scorpions. Plus if Velaryons want to survive, their priority would be going full offensive and keep the war in Westeros lands. The only unknown here are Baela and Rhaena intentions in the light of recent event - especially as they don't know what happened yet. Would they try to find consensus anyway, or finally accept that war is inevitable? Given that Viserra had dreams, any chances for Aemon and Baelon to have them too? It would be funnily tragic to have them argue with Old King and accuse each other about past and present decisions which caused another version of Dance.

Felipe Astur

michael corleone would be proud… “don’t ever take sides with anyone against the family”.

Felipe Astur

Gunpowder + Assassins playing the long game, Without that they can't win a war of atrition In the current scenario…

Tom Tat

Oh I loved it. You didn't disappoint

Tariel Khalvashi

Corlys must begin making plans for the complete destruction of House Targaryen. Poisons, assassins, disruption of their trade and finances, poisoning and destruction of Targaryen dragons. Everything must be done. The Velaryons should kill every last Targaryen, there is no other way out. Hopefully the Velaryons will cope with fewer losses as things progress. If they fail to win, then let them leave the Targaryens even more weakened and insignificant than they were in the canon dance. I'm sure Jaehaerys is proud of his creation and what the Targaryens' decision led to.

ha vu

Okay. so I am thinking like this. If the conflict is unavoidable and the Velaryon is going to lose then maybe, now should be the time to dig another cave somewhere else, a sort of emergency saving to prepare for the rebuild of the Velaryon. They only managed to turn the tide the first time because of their massive coffer and their resilience. I am sure as long as they had the chance they could rebuild later. I wonder if they could smuggle baby dragons and some eggs away. The Targ doesn't have access to the information on how many eggs the Velaryen had. And maybe, the bunch of magic tomes or whatever they just found hold the secret to hatching dragons?? I don't think the Targ would purge all Velaryon and I think without someone challenging them, the Targ would implode all on their own - hopefully killing all of their massive dragons in the process. Not all the dragons, just big ones. The newly hatched dragons can just die like they did in canon. I still don't know exactly how the dragons all died, hopefully, due to insufficient care as all the massive ones are dead. Once they imploded, Velaryon can bound back. If the stars align and they are prepared enough, there is a shot that the Velaryon can be as powerful as the Targ when they conquered Westeros. Is this scenario likely?

Omar

I wonder if any of the magical artifacts found by the Velaryons will be useful against the Targaryens in the future.
