Tertius711

There is not a significant timeskip for quite a few chapters but after the Triarchy is formed there will be more timeskips as we move along toward the Dance.

Robin

"following years" does that mean a time skip is coming?

Tertius711

Maybe they did wait too long but they should still be in a good position. The thing is they have to carefully balance ensuring the Targaryens are committed to Dorne with ensuring they don’t conquer it all too fast and the purpose of the Iron Islands revolt is to help make that balancing act easier. Stay tuned to see how Daemon and Gael’s struggle goes in the following years! Nice analysis.

Kolek

Sounds like the Velaryons waited too long to trigger the Iron Islands rebellion. The Targaryens have already exterminated several major houses and burned Sunspear. Even if they expect a resistance movement, they shouldn't have waited for the main war to be this close to ending. Daemon and Gael are definitely headed towards every parent's nightmare. The future queens of Tyrosh and the Iron Throne are both they're daughters. They're about to watch their children and grandchildren start killing each other and might be forced to choose. It will be hilarious if the Targaryens that were most opposed to peace start championing it, but what can they do. No matter who wins in a Velaryon/Targaryen war, Daemon and Gael stand to suffer great personal loss.

Tertius711

Nah there is going to be war Paul, for sure. Chapter 54 fixed it already. War is Inevitable.

Tertius711

Tariel, the thing is his family also includes his eldest daughters and his Velaryon grandchildren so that’s a pretty big deal. Jaehaerys is dead so his opinions on this can’t really be shown lol.

Coconut mango

At this point if there is no war, it will be disappointing. And some Targaryens have to die...they've had no casualties yet

Tariel Khalvashi

Jaehaerys is probably proud of his own creation in the next world. It would be interesting to read about his thoughts about everything that is happening, at least in the form of dragon dreams.

Tariel Khalvashi

Will Damon really understand that Targaryen pride will lead to war and big problems? He is not able to see beyond the greatness of his own family.

Tertius711

Stay tuned to see how exactly it goes!

Coconut mango

Should be fun 😁

Tertius711

lol. You’re not far off.

Coconut mango

Daemon and Gael advocate for reconciliation and giving what Aemon originally offered lol

Tertius711

Ohh? What do you think it is?

Coconut mango

If it is what I think it is...🤣

Tertius711

I have plans for Daemon and Gael that may surprise some actually. Stay tuned to see how it goes!

Coconut mango

Daemon and Gael should have a great time deciding to kill about half their grandchildren or reduce their wealth. 5 Targaryen and 4 Velaryon for now!!

Tertius711

Magic maybe but I’d say intelligence is a key factor. Both sides in the canon Dance could have won if they had two brain cells to rub together.

ElektrikRush

What are ways other than scorpions and other dragons could a dragon be defeated by?

Tertius711

I don’t believe dragons can be poisoned frankly.

ElektrikRush

I am partial to the idea of poisoning at least some of the dragons. It might not be in the story but do you think it would be realistic with how spread out the Conch network is? What dragons would be targeted when?

Tertius711

Glad you liked them. Great suggestion! I have made yet another edit. >> She took a vindictive pleasure in recalling how it had not gone at all as the Velaryons had hoped however. No doubt they had wanted to send a message to her and her house by drawing their entire Narrow Sea League away from attending her children’s wedding to attend theirs instead but in the end only three houses had dared to do so in full. The Celtigars, the Graftons, and the Royce-Arryns. Most of the other houses had shown they knew who the real power was by attending her children’s wedding, the Targaryen wedding, or had simply been too small and powerless to matter. Some overly clever few like the Starks, Tarths, and Estermonts had thought to play both sides, sending their lords to her children’s wedding and heirs and other lesser members to the Velaryons’ but Rhaenys had those fence-sitters thinking carefully where their loyalties lied in whole soon after with a few visits on dragonback and subtle demonstrations of the Iron Throne’s power in laws and policies.

Robin

I like the wedding details. Did any houses try and attend both weddings? Send their head of house to one and heir to the other or something like that?

Tertius711

In the short to medium term it brought them a powerful alliance in Westeros with the Starks and long term likely a friendly trading power. Even in the case of a Dance, it's unlikely the Starks are all that enthusiastic about fighting Velaryons and they'll likely sit it out if they can get away with it. In any case too, we shall see. We must bear in mind that a war to exterminate the other house will cost casualties from the Velaryons, casualties they may be unable to tolerate.

Tertius711

You're welcome.

Tariel Khalvashi

You say that the war will be for independence. This will not end unless one of the families goes completely extinct. The Targaryens, even if they lose the war now, will not stop and will attack the Velaryons in the future, as happened with Dorne. A temporary truce after the two-sided massacre and the supposed recognition of Velaryon independence does not solve the problem. The Targaryens must be destroyed at the roots. Otherwise, the next generations of Velaryons will suffer. I also hope that Reyna and Baela will have no doubt that the Targaryens will start a war and they will be forced to understand their husbands and support them in the war to protect their children and family.

Revan

Gotcha. Thanks

Tariel Khalvashi

It still turns out that the Velaryons were in vain in marrying the girl to the Starks. It didn't bring them anything. Now the Starks with the blood of the Velaryons will fight for the Targaryens against Corlys and his family.

Tertius711

They probably do have troops there they’re just not mentioned. Same as the Vale and Riverlands. Just like in Daeron’s conquest. The Reach, Stormlands, Crownlands, and Westerland provided the bulk of the army due to proximity though.

Coconut mango

Makes sense. I notice that the Stark forces were not in the Dornish invasion. Was that intentional on their part or the Targaryens?

Tertius711

Unlikely to succeed in Essos with Zaldilaros Cult. Maybe in Westeros but the Targaryens have dragons and are not weak like the Holy Roman Emperors so who knows how it goes.

Coconut mango

It may be a ripe time for a Martin Luther like character uncomfortable with the corruption of the faith on both sides or one side especially

Tertius711

Not to say it had no impact. After all the Starks had allied with them and provided political weight to their alliance and lots of cash. However this alliance was so long as the Velaryons were in Westeros and if they go for independence then why should they back them? It’s a different story if it was a war for the throne than logically yes they would back them but since they’re not and the Starks will be left behind in Westeros, it’s just a bad move to back the Velaryons.

Tertius711

Medieval folks don’t really care lol. Especially not for D*rnish and not with the atrocities that they were committing. As for the Faith, there’s probably more resistance there but nothing the Targaryens can’t really handle since they’re at the height of their power. For now at least.

Coconut mango

So the Velaryon girl marrying the Starks had no impact?

Tertius711

Do the Starks really want independence? Are the Velaryons prepared to permanently guarantee it against the Targaryen depredations? It just makes their life harder.

Coconut mango

Repercussions such as discomfort with such heavy killing leading more to favour and support the Velaryons. However I feel medieval folk may be more tolerant of genocide than we may be, so that discomfort may not materialize. Rhaenys does not really mention the impact on the adherents. Many may lose their faith seeing the corruption plaguing it. However once again the medieval setting could also mean people may believe more blindly. Curious how you will write the repercussions, whichever way you'll take it

Felipe Astur

But they could offer support for a Northern independence and try to bring them into the conflict.

Tertius711

Tariel, tbf to the Starks, the Velaryons are trying to wage a war of independence so naturally the Starks won't back that because they'd be left behind in Westeros.

Tertius711

So Robin I've looked over the chapter again and I was able to add the wedding stuff in so give it another read to see it.

Tariel Khalvashi

This means that the Starks will support the Targaryens in any case, and the Velaryons should not have married off these noble idiots. Let them continue to die of hunger.

Tertius711

One day yes, she will.

Tariel Khalvashi

At least tell me, will Rhaenys regret that she didn’t listen to Corlys?

Tertius711

Yeah we did. Weddings are getting repetitive in this story. I tried writing the wedding chapter for a bit to see if I could but yeah was really struggling to write it. Everything that I was writing for the wedding would much easily flow in a different chapter and different format elsewhere so it was scrapped. Thanks for the reminder, I will likely give the list of which houses attended which weddings eventually but so far I've decided that the Royces, Graftons, and Celtigars attended Daeron and Laena's wedding while the Tarths and North and other houses attended the Targaryens'.

Tertius711

Repercussions such as... what? Realistically what repercussions would the Targaryens suffer tbch. Personally I designed the Dornish War here as an answer to canon. Ah yes the Dornish refuse to kneel and never ever defect? Well this is the realistic end result of that. Oh yeah absolutely. Rhaenys even notes it. It's just that right now the Targaryens have terrified and strongarmed Westeros into obedience but hey if they happen to idk lose a certain war they might be in a tough spot, but we'll see how that goes.

Tertius711

Euron taking out one of Dany's dragons is show nonsense ngl. Yeah Jace be playing 4D Chess. His message was just telling them that the time has come for the Triarchy operation, he just doesn't want to say anything else in case it leaks out.

Tertius711

The war is for independence/reining in a vassal not over the throne so total destruction may not be necessary but we'll see how it goes.

Revan

Think I remember Euron taking out one of Danys dragons, so it's possible with preparation they could give them a good fight and soften them up. Jace is playing chess. Moving his enemies where he wants. I wonder what his message to his folks was about.

Coconut mango

What is this but a warning to the Velaryons of what the Targaryens are capable of. This butchery is unconscionable and excessive...hopefully there are repercussions Also the faith being co-opted, rather than being grassroots led as the Velaryons did, the top down takeover has to bother adherents...

Robin

Did we skip the wedding? I wanted to know which houses went to which weddings.

Tariel Khalvashi

Here, in any case, everything should end in the complete destruction of one of the families. I hope the Velaryons win and Rhaenys will regret not heeding Corlys’s warning during the wedding.

Tertius711

The issue is that the Tyrosh arc can’t be realistically replicated unless I for some reason had another Faith Militant Uprising which isn’t really possible anymore.

Maciek

You've repeated yourself, so I've won ;) Let's finish this conversation until next update. I guess what I wanted was for Targaryens to have sth a bit like Tyrosh was for Velaryons. basically, some problem that couldn't be solved by dragon fire and forced them to spent resources and focus on it, giving Velaryons more time. I guess we'll find out soon how this will go....

Tertius711

Maybe they need to breed more kids. Extra dragon fodder lol. What exactly do you want? Cause the Targaryens are in too strong of a position to be meaningfully tied up like you desire for more than a few years.

Maciek

Still, it's only sth that strengthen their position in terms of conventional resources. Nothing to mitigate Targs Dragon advantage. I know what you meant. By "not holding breath" I meant that it won't be something unexpected, explosive, tying Targs for a longer time. Overally, all depends on time when the Dance will begin. I guess that even in Westeros they wouldn't let youngs into battle until they're at least 12.

Tertius711

What I mean is that they’ve come up with a plot to completely distract and divide the Targaryen dragons so they can happily conquer the Triarchy without their interference. By bit I mean the story part not like a bit. You know ‘oh you’re gonna like that part’ Maybe they’ll get more kids too? More dragon fodder.

Maciek

It's not fun, considering that those steps didn't produce any results yet - and they probably won't until Dance. Only a bit? Then I won't hold my breath ;) Sarcasm, eh? Well, then Velaryons should try to postpone a Dance at least for another 14 years - that way, instead 10-5, they'd be outnumbered only 15-11 (under condition that all kids will have their dragons ) ;) A bit more favourable proportion, don't you think?

Tertius711

The Targaryen advantages cannot be denied. The Velaryons taking active steps to mitigate their advantage though, that's the fun part. Stay tuned for the next chapter, I think you'll like the Iron Islands bit. Yeah lmao they churning out babies like crazy. Hmm conspicously lacking a dragon is conspicuous. You didn't catch the sarcasm in the final note? The time has come for the planned revolts and the Triunification and restoration of the Triarchy. He's trying to avoid saying that in a message that might be intercepted though.

Maciek

A nice chapter, I guess..... So Dorne is gone. It was unavoidable though I REALLY hoped that Dornish would give more troubles for Dragons. But as always, Targs had everything nice and easily, without bigger problems :( Hopefully, Iron Islanders will be the ones who FINALLY throw a wrench into Dragon plans....... Younger generation didn't waste time, I suppose :) Corlys Younger's situation reminds me of something.....I wonder whether we'll have analogue to history of some one-eyed guy...............Though last note suggest that Dance will be finished before they grow up, if I'm correct, so his final fate may be better ;) Last section is the most irritating. "The time has come", but for what? Had Jace referred to planned revolts, or did he prepare some other plans to harm targs?

Tertius711

She died in the timeskip between Chapters 46 and 47. Her death was mentioned in Ch47.

Felipe Astur

I lost the reference, in which chapter?

Tertius711

Thanks. Tbf Maelor didn't have much of a personality other than dying in canon lol. As for Aemond, we shall see, stay tuned. Indeed they are. It is all but confirmed that Dany's three eggs are the stolen three eggs so since the Targaryens got them back this time they have used them. Nightfyre is Drogon.

Tertius711

Corlys the Elder is 67 years old and Corlys the Younger is 4.

Tertius711

She died several chapters/years ago though so why comment here?

Tertius711

Hmm, I wonder why his egg hasn't hatched yet... Thanks! Stay tuned!

Omar

Nice chapter Aemond and Maelor, wonder if they have the same personality as in Canon. And are there eggs perhaps the same ones that Daenerys has in the future?

Felipe Astur

How old is Corlys now?

Felipe Astur

RIP queen Alysanne

Pedro Eugenio de Lima

Kind of worried that Corlys egg hasn't hatched yet... Otherwise, excited for the next chapters!
