Glad you think so!

Neyra

It speaks more to each house's heritage though, even if both houses are dragonlords.

Tertius711

Interesting. Let’s see how it goes. Stay tuned!

Can not wait to read. My thought was that it could be not an attack but an intimate tactic gone wrong just as it happens to Rayena's son's death in canon. They send a big dragon to intimate the velaryon but it goes horrible wrong Waiting for your version no pressure 😅😁

Tertius711

Ah icic. Yeah. Great point.

Tariel Khalvashi

I meant Rhaenys, Corlys's wife from canon. She was ambushed by Aemond and Aegon.

Tertius711

I'm not sure the Targaryens would bother with such a lame first strike attack personally lel. Great imagination tho! And stay tuned because I think what I have planned is even better.

Tertius711

Rhaenys the First? She wasn't ambushed. But anyway good point. Let's see how it goes in the actual Dance. Daemon doesn't actually hate Corlys the Younger.

Tertius711

The thing is the Velaryons are more fiery at this point than the Targaryens are lol so it's not really fitting. I think Sea Dragon and Red Dragon work.

Tertius711

Well I mean there is the Dance.

Tertius711

Yeah, naturally they'd move everything if they believe they're going to lose them. Well we'll see. My main motive was because I felt it needed explaining why the Velaryons are still not willing/able to do the pre-emptive strike despite how much the situation has changed since 115.

It's a very human thing to do. Objectively Baela knows that her own parents are as much at fault for everything (see Ch53 and the conversation between Baela and Rhaena) but they're her parents compared to Corlys and Viserra who are people she already disliked and then ordered her husband to lie to her for five years, putting a huge strain on her marriage. It's only natural that she resents Corlys and Viserra above everything else. I'd be surprised if she didn't hate their guts. She also screwed Jace over for his own part in all of this way back so it's almost a coping method for the survival of her marriage that she shunted all the blame to Corlys and Viserra because she doesn't care for them, she cares for Jace. Corlys and Viserra are aware of this and approve of it since it reduces the strain on their son's marriage.

I want rhaena and baela to get some lesson or something for their actions and attitude

If you want an alternative chapter title. you could call it Heirs of the Sea and for the Targaryens chapter. The Heirs of fire. And maybe, when the Dance starts. You can call that chapter, The Dance or song of Sea and Fire.

Tushar Srivastav

I can not think of a better way for Corlys to go while still having an impact. The symbolism alone Sea snake lived and died at sea

Maciek

Indeed. Or rather they'd show this as Holy War to their subjects. And if Baela and/or Rhaena would even try to protest, their husbands would rather lock them and their dragons in isolation rather than even consider their words.

Tariel Khalvashi

In this case, I am sure that Jakeris, Luceris and Corlys the Younger will not stop until they kill and destroy every last Targaryen, including the younger generation. And no requests from Baela will stop them. This will no longer be a war of independence, but of extermination.

Tariel Khalvashi

Thanks to intelligence, the Velaryons will be able to prepare ambushes for the Targaryens and destroy them with superior forces. Rhaenys from George R.R. Martin's story will be able to confirm that ambushes are lethal to the Thargs. The main thing is that the Velaryons go to the end and destroy as many Targaryens as they can take by surprise. Information is a very valuable resource during war. And the Velaryons must use it without showing mercy to their enemies. As they say, the best enemy is a dead enemy. And the Targaryens are the most hated enemy. I hope for the final battle of Corlys against Daemon, where the latter will jump from the dragon to kill the hated grandson with the “dirty” blood of Velaryon and will be burned by the younger’s fire magic. This will be an epic end for House Targaryen.

Coryls is traveling from Hightide on his ship to join his children and Viserra in Essos, carrying the portrait of his grandfather, when one of the bigger Tygarion dragons appears from the clouds. At first, it just dives to intimidate them, but suddenly starts burning the escort ships. Coryls understands what's happening, contacts Viserra on the glass candle, and says 'Tell them I love them all, and most of all, you.' Viserra is confused at first, but suddenly hears the screams and dragon roars in the background and starts running towards her dragon while shouting into her mirror. Within a few steps, the world inside the glass candle turns into a fire pit, and the candle disconnects. Viserra falls on the floor with a huge cry. Dreamfyre, sensing her distress, lets out a huge roar, and her children join in. It is so loud that it could be heard miles away, signaling the beginning of the dance... This is the image that poped in my head after reading this ch and had to write it down

As I suspected everything and the kitchen sink not nailed down has been carefully removed from the Westerosi holdings (driftmark/the hook) and those most important have already been evacuated. All that’s left is for the final shoe to drop. Why do I feel that because you made this so apparent and also re-introduced the idea of a preemptive strike that the Targs are going to pull the idiot ball and do it themselves? I’m getting serious vibes that The famed Sea Snake will be going down with his ship when High Tide burns…

Excellent chapter though I must admit I did find baela somewhat irritating like coryls and Viserra absolutely share some of the blame for this upcoming dance but she completely ignores how her parents screwed the peace deal that aemon set up ignores how her grant grandfather laid the seeds of this conflict also its funny how she calls coryls grasping ignores how her husband wants to build an empire how she benefits from the money and wealth that house veleyran has that would not be possible without coryls also Viserra only taunted her mother when gael who due to her own arrogance and jealousy fucked up a peace deal that would have guaranteed peace for at least a century it's like baela wants to place all the blame on coryls and Viserra and ignore how her family significantly contributed to this dance also if she were in coryls and Viserra shoes she would have done the exact same thing they did anyway I did really like the chapter baela just irritated me keep up thr great work man.
