I'm thinking he is forcing it to happen as blood is coming out of his eyes, which would explain why on the cover as he has no injuries, but there is pool of blood, where his face lays on the ground, which is most likely the blood pours out of his eyes. So either he dies from this or goes permanently blind from the damage it will cause to eyes, it's nerves, and such would be completely destroyed so a simple eyes replacement won't work.

I appreciate page 44. Does seem likely the three of them met at some point. I suppose it stands to reason she didn’t know Naruto was her son until now. She knew he was a jinchuruki, but not specifically their child. Nobody but Hiruzine knew that. Otherwise, I’m sure she would’ve reached out to him sooner. A three man squad with an Uchiha in it. Parallels between generations is a running theme in this brand apparently.

In this timeline, yes. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have met sometime in their academy days. This expands on their generation, showing they actually were bffs back in the day... perhaps implied to be even more than bffs.
