I know I’m late to the conversation, but I want to say this since it looks like the majority of people have voted yes. I think it would be best if you just do one or two animated backgrounds at first. See how the scene looks with the character sprites and everything first before going whole hog into this

UrElia

Yes, I would love more of some of backgrounds to be animated :)

Nathan Stockman

all for it, however it might bloat file size and could drastically affect performance especially on lower end machines. Possibly implementing this as an optional patch or DLC in the case of steam could avoid the controversy and technical issues entirely.

Henry vaitkevicius

Lol Wut. What fucking ethics are you talking about bro?! It's a game that you clearly fap to. In my opinion AI is a tool, if you won't use it someone els will. If Ai helps deliver better looking, better playing games faster just use it.

Henry vaitkevicius

How about animating the rest of it?

Andrealphus Games

We have no plans to use 100% AI art in any project, but we might use AI to "enhance" some projects.

Barto

If it is used to add to the BG artists work, it's great and I have no problem with it. But I'm against 100% ai made assets. Those are often times made with stolen art (the crown jewel was a piece of 'art', that had a distorted Shutter Stock logo).

Andrealphus Games

It's 3 days of work roughly

Andrealphus Games

It will add 50Mo to the size of the game.

Andrealphus Games

I don't see why, the background artist is okay with it

Andrealphus Games

That's why i asked the opinion of the original artist.

Leftcross

Consider the ethics of this practice before you move forward.

Blockyblob

no please

James

This is what AI should be used for, to enhance creativity, not to replace it. If you wanted to make all of your art assets using AI, then I would vote no. But to animate or add detail to backgrounds, that is totally fine. I would only caution about how much it would add to the size of the game. The Android version is already massive. I'm on the verge of deleting it from my phone and only playing it on my tablet or laptop because of it's frankly obnoxious size.

Alpharius

In this case, it doesn't matter whether you animate it as a live wallpaper (manually) or leave it to the Ai. It saves time for other tasks without compromising the quality of the game. So I'm for it, even if I don't like AI art.

Frag2k4

I'd say yes but only in that it doesn't take priority over actual content such as girls and scenes.

Shiroszz243

Yes please

Wotan

As a free dlc. Those who want it, get it...

Jaime Villarreal

As long as the animated backgrounds of the game dont impact the game performance and with this the techincal specs demands get increase im more than happy to have new innovations =)

Cardinal76

Don't much care for AI. I guess if it's for background stuff. It aint too big a deal. But also seems a bit unnecessary as well.

Jesse Berg

I don't see the need, but I'm not going to get upset if it's done.

macfrag

Moi je pense la question elle est vite rΓ©pondue ! ;)

Unknown Wolf

Talk about a one-sided question 😏

Carnival

I am someone who is probably against AI most the time if your crew is okay with it, and it’ll only be for small things I’m all for it and the background does look pretty dam good

Dwentay

I'm for it but you may want to check your different distribution platform rules around ai art if you haven't already. I know Steam for example requires disclosure of how its used.

Zero Wolf Nation

as someone who have with friends done AI drawings, static and as gif with movements of the MMX series fan content on discord, I do have to say, this would help greatly reduce the work flow for the artist and give way for a more immersive and robust background scenario, as long the one in charge of using AI, has the talent, go ahead, I am sure to always see great things done from andrealphus team. Cheers.

Andrealphus Games

It's 10 minutes of work per BG ;)

macfrag

If it doesn't bring complications to the game code and it's a matter of re-rendering the animations, you should go for it. Subtle BG animations (or other kind of animations, like blinking eyes) do make games feel more "alive"

Retro

This small of a thing I'm fine with it
