Vladistad

"I thank Lanya before returning to the Entalymo" Wasn't it named the Entylamo?

Wolfeye

She doesn't owe Klaman either way. She didn't ask for him to pay or ever agree to anything. It's a little weird that payment wasn't discussed before the healing, but that would be more on Lanya for not securing payment (if it wasn't already paid for).

Bad Dog

You are right, I think it was. However, it was also a rather tense situation. Is hard to have a natural sounding conversation when you are siting on a hair trigger.

Skia Elafris

What choice does she have besides hearing what he wants to say? Running condems all her people not currently on the ship.

Collateral_ink

Not sure about robotic, but certainly a let down. We've been building towards the meet/confrontation between the two for a while, so the generally congenial conversation we got instead of the clash we expected feels underwhelming to me. I mean sure, they're at cross purposes and clearly not comfortable with each other (or rather, Alysara isn't comfortable with him, he seems fine), but Alysara knows who this man is. She already has a very low opinion of his nation from her snooping, she knows this man has been labeled by the system itself as an assassin worthy of a title, she knows he has kidnapped children for unknown purposes (though probably to instigate war), and after her healing she knows he is interested in her. That last one alone should have made her unwilling to even meet with him, let alone expose her people to him.

Nematrec

Ehh, her first class is basically just "be in many far away places at once". While less than ideal, it would not prevent her from being in the nexus at the same time. Could also say she wants a few years to finish some long term projects before she moves over.

Don’t Censor Hentai

conversation between alysara and klaman was so robotic

Jemini

Well, I guess she's actually the one person best able to research it with her magic sense.

Squirtle

I've just read too many novels that i honestly can't remember which is which half the time. Also didn't think Aly has figured out every way age is affected

Jemini

A big thing to keep in mind in regards to Lanya is the concept of "vitality years" that was mentioned in a previous chapter. It means that, by all rights, she should be dead of old age a long time ago. The only reason she's still alive is because she's constantly healing herself against the damage that age is causing. It's not that life bond extends the lifespan. (Although that might or might not be true as well.) It's that constant and sustained healing is able to extend the lifespan of anyone, and it's far easier for a life bond who can heal themselves to get that kind of sustained healing than anyone else.

David Newey

If she does accept the duel this is more or less how I pictured it happening. She essentially tricks him into thinking he's on the right perceptive trail after not being able to track her and then suddenly ends up in the middle of nowhere (spacial layer-wise) and then gets ganked by an inter-dimensional horror.

Jemini

@Jonathan Frerichs Good point. If loosing this duel means loosing the protection of Syfer for the impending assault by the gods, this adds a whole new level to the danger factor in her loosing this. Taking this information into consideration, this is DEFINITELY going to be worth a legendary point. This is also one more reason to have the duel arbitrated by Syfer. If this guy is just going to kidnap her, he would have an angry dragon to contend with trying to get her back.

Jemini

Having the dragon judge is part of setting those rules to make the system accept it. If it's just a verbal agreement that someone can renege on, it's nowhere near as serious as having it arbitrated by a dragon who absolutely WILL hold you to it with no option to back out.

Squirtle

How is lifespan done in this series? Does vitality increase base 80 years for example? Does the tier of Race extent their life as well?(obviously not including Legendary) Lanya is like 400 years old(dunno exact time) with exalted tier Race but also has a 1k+ Life Bond which might extend her lifespan

Signspace

A Dragon is probably the closest thing one could ask for as the impartial judge for a Trial, their innate sense of 'honour' would make them almost incapable of interfering or playing favourites. Though I thinking about it, The System itself is as impartial a judge as can be, if the rules are set and the system deems one of them victorious, it will let them know.

Crashdevil

I think her losing would be catastrophic. She still has a few trials to complete and being stuck as the empress on another continent would basically ensure her exile from the nexus.

Jonathan Frerichs

would not work he can´t protect her from the gods and to be the empress she wouldn´t call the nexus home anymore

Jemini

Here's what strikes me as a fair set of rules for this duel, at least to the extent that it will be a tight enough rules set disadvantaging Alysara just enough for this duel to be really worth a legendary point. 1st. There has to be a time limit. 24 hours seems like the minimum that would be necessary, keeping it fair enough for both sides. 2nd. Aly has to actively track Klaman as he teleports around chasing all her false leads. This will be done in the form of her having a clone visibly accompanying him and teleporting after him to every location he moves to. 3rd. This is optional, but have Safyr arbitrate the duel. She has already given off a rather heavy impression that she is absolutely going to hold people to their trial conditions. So, if she wants to frame this as a trial, she should go through Safyr. (She can even tell Klaman that it's some kind of Runalymo tradition that all trials are arbitrated by the guardian. She can even use this as her excuse to move her real body back to the Nexus without him kicking up too much of a fuss.)

Signspace

Safyr interfering would probably negate the trial, legendary feats need to be achieved on your own merits. That's why Safyr getting Aly the ectoplasm crystals way back when negated the feat for legendary status.

Vladerag

he basically said, "of course you have a choice! to resist. It won't actually help or change your outcome, but you can choose to do that." That said, I personally am rooting for Aly to take and lose this bet, if only because you basically *never* see that happen and it would be interesting to explore.

Vladerag

To be honest, I think it would be quite an interesting twist if Aly agreed and lost. Mostly because that basically never happens in stories, so just seeing it would be fascinating.

wolfsrule90

If he's so clingy, what if she sets a trap for him, make him send himself right into the waiting arms of that crazy strong multidimensional being from a few chapters back.

Paladin

I believe Sense mana should be Sense magic

White Neko Knight

There's a distinct lack of a time limit for this duel.

Ex Caseus Fortis

I feel like Klaman might have been a decent person at one point, but his obsessive loyalty leads him to do really messed up stuff. Then again, he is an assassin so maybe I'm wrong.

Richard Fromdahl

Alysara took Lanya's denial of payment really easily. If Klaman said to NOT heal her, would she have? I feel Alysara should have a pushed it a bit more because Lanya just threw her to the wolves. Hmm, Klaman isn't as pushy as i thought, lets see Alysara's choice in the duel. Hiding from a legendary assassin could give her a point. But specifics of the duel would be needed. To vague, needs some rules.

David Newey

Do I have a choice? 'Of course' he says. Followed immediately by 'I can't let you go' 🤣

VidDav FerDeL

Klaman could literally solve all his problem if he would just take the throne TEMPORARILY so he could have the highest authority alongside with his unmatched assassination skill to cleanse the corruption and also uplift his empire living standard WHILE he raise a child of the current emperor that meets all his requirements(He can make the current emperor a studhorse if yall didnt get what i meant)

David Brims

Well, honestly he's taking a more civilised approach than I was originally expecting. The tyranny of low expectations...

David Brims

She does need some kind of guarantee that he won't renege on his agreement if she accepts the challenge. But if she does get a guarantee, facing him might be worth it to get him off her back

Kitty Chan

Maybe make him realize that if he try's to kidnap our little crafter he's going to set multipool legendary tier dragons on himself. Dragons that are already preparing to defend her from gods because they want her incites to improve themselves. This doesn't end well for him, even if Alyssa can't deal with him personally. Although it would be poetic if he was the source of the legendary point she needs.

Jemini

Well, she wanted a legendary point. Klaman pretty much just gave her a trial worth a legendary point. If she ups the stakes by holding this duel from the nexus, the legendary point is pretty much garanteed. All she has to do is talk to Sypher and get her to arbitrate on the duel and it's pretty much a sure thing.

Mateusz Lokś

it will be troublesome 😅

Norbert Fuksz

The obsession and stupidty is strong in this one... he won't be able to let it go...

Stubbsee

Thanks for the Chapter :) She gets the breakthrough in sense mana rather than sense magic which i am assuming is a mistake

Sky

Honestly thought Alysara would be a bit more surprised. That offer should be quite unexpected for her.

AClassroomSpider

thank you for the chapter!. .
