If names had any power over souls, Aly's "true name" aka the one she had in the primordial universe would be more prevalent, but it's never even been brought up

Andaconda Nation

Yaaay we may get to see the developing thoughts of an immortal Spirit!

Conor McGroarty

Maybe… but if she has to eventually make life that way to advance her own power, might as well “take responsibility” by making suicidally loyal fairies that are completely fine to serve as shock troops as that means they will die soon. The alternative is having all her fairy summons being similar to reusable familiars.

But Did We Ever Compare A Being With A "Soul" With No Name VS With A Name

Jeanean

I very much doubt that. Until now, there hasn't been any mention of Names carrying any kind of power, as far as I remember.

Jeanean

That is arguably even more horrible than the original option...

lan kanl

I Wonder If Naming The Familiar Will Change The Pseudo-Soul Into An Actual Soul

Conor McGroarty

MC Alysara needs to explore control skills. Not in the sense of mind control (though practicing mind magic should help with Scholar of Many Minds) but controlling the field of battle with chains, seals and other battle field rearrangement. Personal reality (previously figment of reality) can help but having a more directed Bond skill can help if she wants to capture someone alive.

Conor McGroarty

If MC Alysara ever feels bad about summoning sapient disposable minions (if and when she can), she can make them like Mr.Meeseeks where existence is painful for them and it will follow its orders faithfully to be dismissed from what it perceives as a painful existence. Not her familiar as it is meant to stick around but making her conjured fairy things sapient as an example.

Skia Elafris

Invincible is the ultimate defense skill The next step for mana defense is Total Mana Resistance

Skia Elafris

It was stated in the chapter after she first made some that it had no MM force

Conor McGroarty

The superior form of mana toxicity tolerance is total mana immunity. There is also soul damage resistance and total physical immunity. But I searched (after original post) and the ultimate culmination of all damage reducing skills is Invincible which combines all damage resistance skills into one. Safyr was teaching her kid Erandur about it and how all dragons should strive to get it. She also warned him that it would only reduce the damage magic caused instead of immunity and that is why cursed beings are dangerous as they always use magic. Invincible would likely be the hardest ultimate skill for Alysara to get due to it being contrary to her main battle strategy of avoiding putting her main body in danger (though she is starting to train so her main body can handle itself just in case). It’s a far future thing that is not pressing compared to other ultimate skills. Though having Nexus immunity upgrade to total mana immunity would be nice, would take clever juggling and much effort (and resisted damage) to combine other resistance skills into it for her Race to get Invincible. Might as well subject herself to the Pain Master to evolve her pain resistance (iron will) if she ever seriously strives for Invincible.

Jeanean

I think it was "magic Immunity". And I doubt that Alysara will get that Skill, at least with her current life and combat style. Then again, she is training "Mind Magic resistance" and has "Nexus immunity" both of which seemlike a good basematerial to fuse into the Skill. Also, I'm really hoping that, by the end of it, all of those Skills become part of her race. Because then, her children (and probably, hopefully, Kayafe's) will be able to inherit them.

Tjark

We also know about the 5th skill. The one Safyr and most dragons are said to have. I don't know the name but it's the one that is basically indestructibility so the ultimate defense skill.

Nematrec

We don't know if primordial mana even has MM force. Going by the fact it's not elemental (due to the fact it existed before elemental mana), and the way Aly described it's creation, I'm going to say it probably doesn't have any internal components or MM force

Pawzom Lz

I could have sworn it was Artistry. It would be more broad than Artisanship is crafts only. Artistry can also include crafts because crafted items can also be viewed as a form of art(especially in cultures like the Runalymo), that is on top of being able to merge skills like Graceful movements, Musician, Calligraphy, Acting and much more. Maybe all crafting skills into Artisanship, all art skills into Artist, and then merge both of those into Artistry?

Conor McGroarty

‘Usually, it’s a skill, one of the five known ultimate skills’ So we know four out of 5 commonly known ultimate skills: True Sense, Manipulate Mana, Unlimited Mind(s?), and now Conjure Familiar (?). Alysara has manipulate mana in her race and is trying to get Unlimited minds for her Scholar of Many Minds Class. Now it is looking like Distant Summoner is going to get an ultimate skill of its own. 3 she can potentially get. Considering sense magic is pretty great I would be surprised if it doesn’t become True Sense in the distant future (maybe next skill mastery). I am curious about what the 5th one is and whether she will end up getting it. Will she end up fusing true sight into sense magic (would that be the right way to get true sense though?) or will it end up fusing into a new Class that she intends to fill with Gaze skills (get the most out of her perception)? Who or what actually has True Sense and what do you have to go through to get it if not born with it? I would imagine it is a certain monster race born with it that isn’t that smart and is wasted on them as they don’t use it to discover knowledge. Just not getting surprised or tricked by illusions. After all, wouldn’t they be able to see all that Alysara could if they were sapient? Or maybe not and they would have to unlock each individual aspect of it with breakthroughs and become unable to enhance it due to the higher bar for enhancement (encompasses space, soul, mana, Aether/miasma, divinity/magic, vitality, conventional matter)?

Jemini

I believe the theoretical skill-name Alysara dropped was "Artisanship," which would go even farther than artistry to also incorporate smithing and other crafting skills that can have artistic components to them. That truly would make it an ultimate crafting skill as it could reach insane levels and be used to craft some of the best items ever.

Skia Elafris

For most people they rely on upping the tier of their class to upgrade skills. Combat classes have a more straight forward method of being improved than artisan

Skia Elafris

Primordial mana does not have an MM force

Pawzom Lz

So it can empower those it hits?

Vladistad

No, I mean have primordial mana be a projected blade, that is then held in place by MM forces

Kagami Shiro

Primordial mana empowers all other manas tho wondt it be better to craft it into a catalist instead of something that stops mana

Pawzom Lz

@Imp Invincible is an Ultimate skill, or at least Safyr believes it is as can be seen in Side Chapter 5: The Soul Fields. Wont say any more than that in case that chapter is not available to everyone here yet. @Skia Elafris In that case it might really be possible Artistry is an Ultimate skill, people just dont quite realise it since all the ones that have been designated Ultimate skills so far are almost pure combat skills.

Skia Elafris

One part of what makes an "Ultimate Skill" is they cannot be further merged to make bigger skills. Outside of that the term is more a meta concept than a system designation.

Imp

I don't think there was ever confirmation that Invincibility was an ultimate skill. People have assumed it was, considering how much Safyr talked it up, but it might not be.

AClassroomSpider

thank you for the chapter!. .

Vladistad

Maybe the mana-cutting sword can use MM forces to project & hold a blade of primordial mana as its cutting implement? a la the energy sword from Halo.

SDCard

Thanks for the chapter!

Pawzom Lz

Mana Sense is not an Ultimate Skill. It is however the best non Ultimate sensing skill as almost everything has mana in it(and if it does not have mana in it then it is surrounded by it as mana is everywhere, which means there would be a very obvious void where it is not for someone with a high enough skill lvl). I dont think it has been confirmed if True Sense is one either but it makes sense with how powerful it would be and as it would follow a similar process as Invincible. Get all the resistance skills, enhance them and then combine them after which you got Invincible. Get all the Sense skills, enhance them and then combine them after which you got True Sense. All of this makes me wonder why these skills are Ultimate Skills though? Is this recognized by the system or is it something the established races of this world have decided on because of how powerful these skills are? If so, skills that arent very powerful but have a lot of flexibility and are not very combat focused may have been overlooked, like Artistry, which is a combination of a ton of skills but just dont have the same kind of oomph that all of these other skills have when it comes to combat.

weren't true sense and mana sense both ultimate skill? maybe i remember wrong...

Pawzom Lz

Off the 5 known ultimate skills, 4 of them only really benefit casters while the only one that non casters can benefit from is Invincible. What is missing is one for crafting and one for weapon proficiencies(Weaponmaster?) for melee combatants, archers and the like. Those are the 2 I can think off on the top of my head that are missing. There is also that off the 5 known ultimate skills, Manipulate Magic is the one that was listed, not Manipulate Mana. And with us now knowing some skills can be enhanced down different paths, does this mean Manipulate Divinity and Total Mana Control, both of which Manipulate Mana can probably enhance into, are also Ultimate Skills of their own?

Luboš Hemala

Thank you for the chapter :-)

Jemini

The last one is Invincibility. That's probably the one Alysara is the farthest from getting. That said, she does have her Nexus Immunity skill in her race, which has aspects of heat and cold resistance to it as well. That means it's a candidate for eventual evolution into Invincibility if she gets the other component skills to merge into it. If she gets that, she actually will have aspects of all 5 known ultimate skills.

SpaceGoddess76

Well 1 of the 2 would be the Familiar skill. Leaving 1 Skill still unknown.

Derek Walker

What are the 5 ultimate skills? Unlimited minds (Aly is working toward that one) Manipulate Mana (She has that) True Sense (Has True sight, but under leveled, but seems a good approximation with sense mana, sense soul, sense space etc.) Create Familiar (She has the bond version, are they functionally the same? or is it the skill that gives a familiar with classes and skills?) Do we know the 5th skill?

Andrew
