Remember sitting down for tea with a young, 19 yrs, Karen female fighter in their house on the banks of the Moei river, that forms the border between Thai and Myanmar in part, in the days before. Was barely a couple yrs older than her myself Already a long struggle for them at the time, things blew up and have rarely settled in the decades since. Was a pretty wild border zone then and think it still is despite some development Have followed the fortunes and misfortunes of the people ever since Another HGA to be proud of sponsoring in a small way for whatever eyes it can bring to the situation and get the story out

thejuicemedia

Haha well said Kim, yeah it certainly puts things in perspective doesn't it!

thejuicemedia

Yeah, so many people don't know about the comflict in Myanmar. Which is why I really wanted to make this HGA. Thanks for the support Palitja!

thejuicemedia

Thank you Ian πŸ™πŸ’›

thejuicemedia

I whoelheartedly share that hope!

thejuicemedia

Thank you Tom!

thejuicemedia

Thank you Sally. Yeah, there's a lot of countries helping to sustain the junta. Australia is one of them - albeit to a much lesser extent than those mentioned. But we decided to leave out Australia in this episode, in consideration of Ingyin's status here as a refugee.

thejuicemedia

Thank you Robert! Yeah, these are the kinds of episodes I really love making, highlighting the broader networks of power and how the pieces fit together to sustain (and profit from) injustice.

thejuicemedia

wow!

thejuicemedia

Fingers crossed for next week Mark!

Thank you Francesco. You always have a good side note to add! I am aware of the criticism of Aung San Suu Kyi - a criticism shared by many Myanmar civil society groups - and that is why I took care not to endorse her in this video. Nevertheless, it is also important to recognize that she was democratically elected by the people of Myanmar in 2020 and subsequently granted a position in the National Unity Government. It's also good to see that there have been some positive steps by the NUG and wider Spring Revolution towards addressing the wrongs committed against Rohingya, eg. setting up a human rights ministry and appointing a Rohingya as deputy minister. They have recognized Rohingya rights to citizenship, support the ICJ case of genocide, have accepted the ICC’s jurisdiction and clearly called for accountability and reparations for Rohingya. You make a very good point also about the various factors that influenced and constrained Suu Kyi's actions whilst in power. This article touches on this https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/defence-aung-san-suu-kyi Thank you for your thoughful comments Francersco!

thejuicemedia

Thank you!

thejuicemedia

thanks Michael, am very proud of this one!

thejuicemedia

So brave, and yes I hope MA Ah La shits a brick when he sees it

Edward Lander

This junta dude is gonna be SO pissed at your video, lols! πŸ˜† Ingyin is one brave young woman ✊🏻

michael worth

Superb

D. WARD KRANZ

πŸ’•πŸ’• Savage, as always! Please keep up the important work!

Francesco Finucci

Loved it, yet again. Just a side note that I think important: when Aung San Suu Kyi finally rose to government, she did, among other things, because the international community - and I must admit, the international left - pumped her as some kind of messiah, despite the evidence of her being object of a cult of personality. When she finally reached power, she started then being ferociously cticitized because she did zero to stop the Rohingya genocide, as one might have expected if researching her figure without transforming her in some kind of religious icon. Clearly, her agency was limited by a miriad of reasons we can't understand from here, and the same can be said about how and why the military junta took power again. But we have a role also in continuously pumping every non Western figure that fits our way of seeing things, participating in disasters they can bring about. We have to be way more careful in this sense.

"A virtually forgotten war"… but NOT for the mammon grubbing oligarchs who are more than happy to support it to exploit their resources and markets. I already commented in YouTube when the "ad" appeared yesterday. It looks like next week we'll see if the convicted felon here attempts to pull off something similar from myan'Mar-a-Lago.

Peter M

Was actually on Thai Burma border on 8/8/88, the 8888 uprising, when protests had started and 3,000 people at least were shot over following days Incredible how the people have struggled since then, sometimes forward, but mostly crushed under military rule

Robert Bismuth

Brilliantly crafted. Excellent to see the network of corruption supporting the junta exposed so thoroughly. Thanks for shining the light on this terrible situation!

SALLY WARMINGTON

Thanks Giordano and team, and especially Ingyin Halaing Halaing for this disturbing, brilliant and very informative HGA. I had no idea so many countries are enabling the military regime in their brutal activities. This has to stop!

Tom Wheater

Yet another excellent and eye opening HGA from all involved plus a big welcome to Ingyin as well.

Jason Orcamoon

I couldn’t smile while watching this tragedy until the Authorized By: … Short Men With Mummy Issues. Here in the US that would have been Mommy Issues, Mom vs Mum. So when I initially saw the words versus just hearing them in the audio preview, I pictured an Egyptian mummy with Min Aung Hliang enjoying necrocoitus much like JD Vance enjoying couch coitus! All cool and normal in the land of authoritarian fucktards. PS: Here’s hoping there is no need for another US HGA!

James I Mullins

tragic...

Ian Ossher

Brilliant, thank you. At long last honest government ads calling out the world's fascists. Bless you Giordano and family.

Palitja Moore

I had no idea about this. Thanks for making this HGA so we can get better informed and help.

Kim Hillier

OMG. And here's me bitching about AI and MS f**king MS Word. again. First world problems.
