little heads up since I saw you confused but if I'm not mistaken they decided to not sub when they are talking with sign language, I don't really remember if the reason was to empathise heart loneliness or just being reality since we don't know sign language but yeah we have to interpret it ourselves its not a bug of subs :)

So a little bit of cultural context: in Thailand it's customary for the groom to pay a certain price to the bride's family before marriage. That's why Leng and his girlfriend had such a problem with getting married and why uncle Jim was concerned about her parents. Basically Leng didn't have enough money to pay for her (btw I don't really know a better way to phrase it, English is not my first language, but it's not really "buying" the bride it's more like a symbolic transaction). Jim bought Leng the necklace so he can give it to the bride's family and receive their blessing.
