I do not recall seeing any pictures of him eating with his pinky raised. That said, it's plausible, as he certainly has his pinky raised as he's preparing to eat... presumably preparing to eat. For all I know, he's just messing around with stuff the others consider food to better fit in, but he's going to sneak off later and chow down on his real grub, whatever that may be.

I feel like the joke in the final panel wasn’t initially planned. This feels like one of those times when Dave started drawing something and realized that the horn would have to be going somewhere, so he changed the final panel to account for Sydney’s reaction.
