What's her employment status? Is she exempt? I presume she's in a high enough bracket to qualify... And then you might need to show she actually worked that entire time. Since there's already a question of whether she should be paid for the time worked vs. the elapsed time, it seems difficult to claim overtime on top of that. I suspect the answer is "No." Note: your punishment for asking pedantic questions in a webcomic forum is for a pedant to answer you. :)

One way around these types of situations would be to add a chronometer into their comm chokers that keeps track of their personal time, then add/have a clause in their contracts stipulating that pay is determined by personal time experienced only.

Yeah, there'll probably be a lot of yelling at the meetings to establish a policy on this type of thing going forward. I expect that your position will win out, and at some point in the future (when it's dramatically appropriate ;-)), Sidney will get a reimbursement cheque.

"Splitting the difference?" Arianna is kind of a sleaze, isn't she? Sydney was a textbook MIA/POW; disconnected from the chain of command in hostile territory through no fault of her own. The precedent is that while MIA/POW, the servicemember keeps getting paid. *Period.* That she only experienced two days of that two months missing is irrelevant; MIA/POWs don't get docked pay for being in comas.
