It's a nitpicky kind of thing, but there it is. Actually, since they are split between two lines, just adding a hyphen would put you in compliance. Just to keep in mind when editing a book together...

While "where" and "as" are two perfectly good words, when used together in this context they get joined into "whereas". English! @Michael - and she isn't at her best, given her sleep schedule. Or lack thereof...
