I haven't, of course, felt the tactile reality of tubie versus the mittens. That said, it's entirely likely that the tube is easier to open while asleep than the velcro-fastened mittens. Thinking about the last time I tried taking off mittens that had velcro fasteners like Sydney's wearing here, it's entirely possible that's true while she's awake as well, despite the advantage of being aware of *how* to remove them.
