Sydney almost made a joke there about knowing where she could find a spare foot. But she didn't.
Making Sydney watch Seneca run the course is a little like getting Math to teach her martial arts. But sometimes seeing what's possible can help people break out of old habits. Also watching Sydney plod through the course a few times was making Seneca super antsy
Seneca is actually the record holder for this course. Sean, the ex-SEAL who wears the blue cap and who I haven't drawn in about 400 pages is second fastest, (he was on the climbing wall a few pages ago, but that was from behind) followed by Goose, the Duke Nukem looking guy. Hiro is next fastest, followed by Ren, then Peggy, who unsurprisingly has far and away the best aim/grouping. But the fake leg does slow her down a bit.
Yes, obviously Maxima is the actual fastest, but she has super speed and that doesn't count. She can detail strip her gun while one of the targets is popping up, and fire her break action Tyrannosaur .577 pistol faster than Seneca can pull the trigger on her glock.
For those of you wondering, Seneca claims to have "Reverse Diabetes" where she's certain she'll lose a foot if she doesn't ingest at least 3,500 calories of refined sugar a day. She obviously doesn't have that because it's not a thing. She just exercises a lot.

I'm expecting that, once Sydney overcomes her OCD enough to let her ADHD really work for her, her times will be semi-respectable on this course.

It turns out, from commentary on the main page redirecting attention to the "gum" and the under-comic comment, that Seneca is actually popping a root beer candy UP into her mouth. Dave could easily add motion-lines going from the candy indicating it is travelling FROM the hand rather than from the mouth as many of us thought. Also, the cross-eyed is a bit overkill, and the head would traditionally be tilted back a bit as you usually toss the candy up, then let gravity pull it down into your mouth... unless you're miss hot-shot I suppose.

Max would probably have to wait for each target to pop up, substantially slowing her time. :D

@just about everybody... It is <i>supposed</i> to make you think it is Sydney, until the reveal in panel 7 (skin tone). The trouble is, most of us don't pay that much attention to skin tone. I didn't get it either until the dialogue box. Maybe it would help if panel eight were <i>Syd</i> spitting out <i>her</i> gum in amazement, instead of Seneca looking unconcerned and un-winded...but really the dialogue is enough.

Maxima is allowed to use super-speed? Then probably faster not to use a gun at all! Go! ::Maxima pushes a finger through the forehead of all targets as they are popping up:: Done!

...oh, THAT's Seneca? And now I get the full joke, "kick ass and chew bubble-gum." I think this page might want a narrator or something. Really, panel two needed to be a couple frames earlier in the action, so you could see the pony tail, but that's a full panel re-work which isn't going to happen I'd expect.

Yeah, in the second to last panel it is not really transparent that Seneca has just finished this course. For all we can see she's just.. spitting a gum while being in awe for something?

It did not even begin to be clear that this wasn't Sydney running the course without goofing off until the "SHE's not supposed to" word bubble. I have high expectations of her prowess...

I wonder how she would be without the new glasses. And I wonder how people will react when they learn about the glasses. That said she did get some actual combat experience, soo.
