... now, that’s interesting. My first instinct is to think that Concretia - who may or may not be the Marble Maiden - is running a double game. She clearly knows enough about Sydney’s relationship with the orbs to use it to restrain her, which isn’t public knowledge. That means that she’s got inside information, either from a spy within Archon...or because she is, herself, with Archon, and in possession of both clearances and a distinct Need-to-Know. She’s just notified someone of their location using a comm line that anyone with even an ounce of sense would assume was being monitored. This means that Halo’s allies will be showing up, and that the “LLC,” _might_ as well, allowing them to be apprehended, without necessarily exposing the double game being played by Concretia...who I reiterate, may or may not be the Marble Maiden. A.k.a., Chekhov’s Recruit.

Concretia did her job, minimal collateral damage, didn't hurt anyone, didn't even take getting her head blown off personally, and showed a little respect for the rules. That's professionalism. I bet she's even earned a little grudging respect from Syd. +1, would hire again.

I'd always thought there'd be a lot of comedic potential involved if the nature of the distance limit was reversed- they still can't be further than a certain distance from her, but the orbs just follow her as an immovable force WITHOUT impeding her. Accidentally put a wall between her and the orbs? BOOM, no more wall.

I'm kind of unhappy that this way of disabling Sydney has been figured out. There's quite a number of variations that can be done. For a regular person this would just be a lesson to learn to be better at watching around them better, but Sydney can be distracted or diverted much more easily.

Jabberwocky wore one when she was fighting cops in a flashback (Sydney even commented on it in the meta-strip), and Marble Maiden wears one.

Stan

In the bank scene as Sydney met Maxima Mr. A. was tugging her away from Max and Tubey was skittering across the floor after her.

BJ

Hm, who could it be though? There are only so many people that fit that description in this comic. Hm... I've got it! It's Joel!

Zip Zop

Masks? Has that even come up yet?

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

How's this for a twist... Concretia has no interest in Sydney at all. She's just immobilizing her so she can't interfere while she takes the Stasis pod. Presumably for someone who really doesn't want Halo hurt. Like, maybe, someone who has already evidenced great interest in alien doodads and mystical artifacts? AND hires supers on a regular basis?

BJ

Pervy collector, no doubt.

BJ

Well, at least she knows the masks rule.

Stephen Gilberg

I assume "look" should be "loot." Not sure why Concretia took Sydney's jacket. Just in case there was something useful in the pockets? Then why stop there?

Jonathan Grant

You have marked the last three comics as "Grrl Power #898"

I really hope Sydney saves herself, I'm so tired of characters being made into damsels in distress so that we can have plot exposition.
