Hey it's another patented Grrl Power action sequence with 11 panels on a page. I await my Eisner nomination.
For those of you wondering about the comic making process, the transcript for this page includes the word "meatwench" to distinguish her from rockwench. That may just be how my mind works.
I know what you're thinking. Where did Hench Wench's skirt go in stone form? Since she has to consciously animate herself, as previously established, she did a little wardrobe changeup so she doesn't have to think about making a stone sheet floop around her legs when she's fighting. I guess doing that along with the waist-length hair is too much at once.

Yes, me too. Not 7 years, but everything else.

Dave, I've been a $5/month patreon of yours for 7 years, but your NSFW Sydney post has me locked out, saying I need to become a $3/month patreon? What the heck???
Stan
Really loved the "you punched my soul right out of my body" but it would've been more believable if the "I'm being sucked to hell! Clowns! " had been followed by Clowns and Politicians everywhere!!

For some reason I'm suddenly curious to what would happen if Xochitl touched Hench-Wench. A power that varies versus variable powers... would the former's transformation change if the latter's accessible powersets did?
Some Ed
I feel like HW has more tools. Little idea how to use most of them, and no idea how to make use of all of them well, but she has a greater number of options at her disposal. This also doesn't feel like Max is outthinking HW, but rather HW making a rather rookie battle mistake. I mean, not many rookies have the opportunity to mess up like this, unless you abstract it to the point of "learning to use an unfamiliar power set in the middle of a big fight." At least, it feels like HW isn't that familiar with Concretia's power set, even at the same time as she's demonstrating something that Concretia doesn't do. Though, to be fair, we don't know when Concretia was captured, or how. For all we know, she normally used her concrete form as a second set of (probably for her, stronger) set of muscles. But for the dinner fight, she didn't want her normal self to be IDed. Since then, all of her on panel time was after she was captured. We technically don't know she hadn't been captured before.

She did say fuck her nose. She's absolutely not the first person I've heard say that. None of the many times I've heard someone tell me to do that did it ever seem like a good idea.
Some Ed
I feel like you're right about her being at max speed during the temporal time field, but after that has dialed that way back. At this point, she's probably mostly in armor, as it's a safe place to put it where she won't hurt people too much and if she misjudges how hard someone can hit, it won't hurt her too much.
Some Ed
Well, it *was* a bunch of fun, until she punched herself in the face with a concrete fist.

Can you just imagine Henchwench fighting Lorlara? I'd watch that movie, multiple times. All the scenery would be chewed up for light years in every direction. p.s., if you're being doubleteamed by one person, is that still technically a threesome?
Joseph Bonnar
Maxima is enjoying this far, far too much.
PSadlon
It did very much sound like something Sydney would say.
Kevin R Conk
Did she say fuck her nose? Sounds like it would be unpleasant for everyone involved.

Okay, I don't know how, but this page is much better for me than the last one. I'm guessing it has something to do with Max outthinking a villain with just as many tools, but not as much skill in using them.

hey dave, i enjoy reading grrrl power its a great comic. i find sydney hilarious. when we first see her in action at the bank was great.
Doug Northcote
I'd love to see what Max had set on power/armor/speed at that point in the fight. Of course it changes all the time, etc. But I'm guessing armor aint to high and speed/power are way up there. Like when she was probably on max speed during the temporal time field etc.
Andrew Denton
"Why are you hitting yourself?"
Aclys
signing a contract while under duress still means you signed the contract, not sure what court you'd have to go to to get the thing revoked for it to apply to Henchwench's power or if that would even work at all. I suspect that as long as HW sincerely considers it a valid signature, it works.
JBomb110
The dialogue in this fight is great. Henchwench is very entertaining. Having her hit herself at the end was a fantastic ending touch,
Fierce Gaze
Hench Wench is having a lot more fun than most people stuck fighting Maxima.
Stephen Gilberg
I was thinking she sparred with Harem. Dialogue has indicated that many Arc-SWAT members have tried.
akrasia
Purposely leaving the gloves on HAS to be how Max starts a fight, because she CAN punch the soul out of pretty much anybody. Have to calibrate the appropriate level of force.
Bowoodstock
I don't know if this is ADHD so much as being cocky and overconfident. Maxima also hasn't really taken off the gloves yet, as we've seen in past fights; HW really doesn't know what she's gotten into here. Furthermore, I don't think HW has the same creative streak Sydney does; having access to this new powerset isn't the same as being proficient in it, and she just learned the concrete hard way that powers can backfire.
Town Crier
So... Sydney is not the only ADHD-riddled person in this fight.
Martin Croft
Can we call Hench wench's concrete double 'blockhead'? Actually, can we just call Hench wench 'blockhead', it seems more apt.
James C
"Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself"
Robin
How can someone forced to cooperate be counted as part of a company, for HenchWench to get Concretia's power I mean? Is it who signed the contract or who considers themselves part of that group or who HW considers part of that group, etc?
Marc Vun Kannon
So now I wonder if Concretia is also capable of moving her meat body when she's also got a rock body, or if this is just something HW can do. And why did it take so long for Max to turn and even start to punch? It's almost like she expected HW to grab her from behind.
Magraal
That ending caption makes me think there's a story to be had, hopefully involving Dabbler and/or Harem... maybe as a vote incentive?
Andrew
Max giving her fist a stare is just perfect.
Tim
This is really not a good day for that nose.
Michael Obert
Fighting with herself.
Justaguy
Self-administered nose job?
