Dan

Also Mr. Burns from "the Simpsons".

Bharda Sullivan

So, shower-thoughts. Harper is going to need an answer to both “what do you do,” and “where have I seen you.” Solution: SCENE: The home of Mr. & Mrs. Scoville. Maxima arrives unannounced, arriving with a great displacement of air, and franticly declaims, “Draw me like one of your French girls!” One smash cut later, Max & Mrs. Scovilleare working out a rough contract to have her do illustration modeling for Mr. Scoville, in order to both give her a genuine answer, and to justify why she might look familiar to people as Harper, by saying “I’m a professional model,” in a context that hides her specific face. It would also help her to get acclimated to the idea of being “looked at” in a context that is controlled, emotionally safe, potentially just fun. It also provides her a chance to associate with a group of mundanes (the Scovilles & their various professional associates in the art business) in a setting other than “going out.”

It may be that Burns has sported the Grinch, but I'm pretty sure Seuss used it first (1957). Though...I don't have an original copy, and there have been many adaptions, both official and fan pics, so I may be wrong about where it first showed up. Anyway, I don't suppose it really matters - as you say, it is now an iconic look. I guess the more relevant question is: where did Dave get his inspiration? The "Eeeeeeexcellent" is definitely a strong indication it was Burns... And the steeple fingers... OK, you're right: Burns homage.

More of a Mr. Burns from the Simpsons, I think, but then all evil masterminds have that sinister gloating look.

Love the Grinch in the last panel! :)

She's a plotter that one. Deus would be more her type.

Appropriately awkward. Is he immune to Charm spells?

I'm not sure Shioh would get along better with relaxing friendly Anvil, or Sydney anytime. Hum.

Well which ever way this goes, it's certainly going to be interesting follow.

Jules

She can reallocate her power a bit so maybe it's not out of the question?

Well, given that Max nearly knocked him over the bar last page with her Miles Morales hello shoulder tap, methinks getting laid is out of the picture tonight due to his squishy nature. Hopefully they can bond over having pushy friends and family, and have a chill evening.
